Another big show ing for the the Manti Templars track team had an impressive showing at the Gunnison Valley Invitational last Saturday. It was a day of career highs for everybody from almost every school that participated in the Invitational. The Templars started out the day with Cody Braithwaite winning the 3200 meter run (2 mile) with a time of 10:21. Cody also finished 2nd in the 600 meter run (1 mile). Brady Nielson also had a fine day at the meet as he w on the hurdles with a time of 4 1 . 1 7 seconds. (He ran a personal best 40.8 seconds in the preliminaries of the 300 meter hurdles). Nielson also made the finals of the 100 meter dash and finished in sixth 300-met- er place. Levi Yearsley also had a big day as he finished 6th in the javelin throw. In the 400 meter run finals for both the boys and girls, Jake Williams and Jamie Luster each finished 5th in their respec Templars was that the medley teams, (the boys and girls), were both able to qualify for State. In both the boys and girls heat of the medley relay, there were photo finishes. The girls were able to finish first, and the boys finished second in very thrilling endings to the respective races. Although not every body was able to qualify for State at this meet, those w ho didn't came painfully close and will most likely qualify for the prestigious BYU track meet in Provo within the next few w'eeks. The next meet for the Templars will be this Saturday, April 24 at the Old Capital Invita- tional which will be held at Millard High School in Fillmore. From there, the Templars will get some experience on the track where the State meet will be held at the BYU Invitational which will be held the coming Friday.
