reason the advocate this w eck dons a new chapeau the style adopted is old english the popular thing with most period periodicals icaN at this time the change likely wil will strike subscribers and other readers at firt fir it as na odd but in time all will become used to it the year just closed has been a prosperous one for the ad avocato for which the owner is duly appreciative while the present year promises much eastern utah has the resources and the men nien of pluck and vim to accomplish anything set before them the advocate promises to do its part in the up building and develop balent ot this section ol 01 the state Ilund hundreds eds of residents fathered gathered around the burning school building last sunday night and helplessly watched between thirty and forty thousand dollars worth of public property go up in smoke an efficient fire debart and a rood water supply would have saved the district a gi sat eat loss but while the loss has been great the lesson taught at bundag nights night file should be greater without a more extensive water system the city is 19 at the absolute of any fire that happens to originate in the more congested portions of the town toan the present city coun council il has bus shown itself to be im one standing for improvements ta abat at mean everything to the growth of the community and during its remaining in office A it ie Is to be hoped that it will be able to solve the ater nater supply problem as u well ell as us give the citizens water more healthful and sanitary pani rani tary tury than is now being used the contest proceedings now in progress arc are being eagerly watched by every voter in the county as in the event the contestants win out a material change will be made in the personnel of the officers of the me bounty there is no question but that either losing aide will appeal to the sup supreme reinO court of the state which means that in any event the de facto officers will hold hola office until the matter is decided by the court of last resort in the event both helper and price are thrown out it will III mean the election of the entire republican democratic tic ticket with the eve exception eption of mrs barbara forrester For reater and J tom fitch should price be thrown out alone the result of the vote on any of the candidates would not be changed sufficiently to make any difference in the elK election tion should helper alone be thrown out hill wetzel lee Alar marcuson cusen cn and col bingham would be elected it would seem at this time that the school board has been somewhat lax in not having arranged for a larger insurance on the pill lie lic school building than perhaps however Judg judgment should be withheld until it is definitely determined the exact loss which la 13 generally estimated at about if the loss really amounts to that much it is quite certain that the property was nas not adequately insured the state statte board of education has gone out of its way to advise school districts not to attempt ecknor by small insurance at least 80 per cent of the value of the property should be insured As the ad advocate o cate has previously stated it does not seem possible that the rancher can lan go wrong in putting every mal available lable acre into wheat this coming spring wheat is now selling on the exchange around for my may M y delivery and in view of the war ar situation it would not be at all surprising to see this necessity go to a bushel before the next en Is harvested the rhe advance is perfectly natural and could be reasonably r expected in view of the poor prospect for peace in europe the warring powers must have wheat which means that the price of this commodity must continue in the ascendancy this war tax is a misnomer as well as a nuisance bays the american economist its proper name is a democratic administration tax a sort of retribution imposed on the country for ing its industrial legislation to the party of traditional free
