mines upon arrival at kenilworth the members of the party were taken in charge by thomas bell general superintendent perin of the mine and were shown every possible courtesy while the workings and matters connected with the camp were explained in every detail superintendent bell was ebly assisted in his handling of the party by thomas patterson day mine foreman B at hogen chief clerk and william gorton while dr R E dowd went to helper this morning to meet them to the visiting party it w was as explained that the average output of the Kenil kenilworth mines at this time is about fifteen hundred tons lons daily although thia might be increased to upwards of two thousand tons but for the lack of railroad cars not only kenilworth but every one of the seven seen other producing coal camps of carbon county has its output restricted at this time by the shortage of cars all are complaining alike on this score the largest single output for one day at kenil worth was last monday when the tonnage reached considerably above the two thousand mark two thousand tons when Thorris thorr As belcho bell who ho resigned from the serviced services of the utah fuel company last june to go with the I 1 1 kenilworth people took hold of the imme mine he gave the management to I 1 understand that he would bring the daily tonnage to to eighteen hundred i ilo how fully he ha has succeeded is shown show n by the books of the which demonstrate that such ar output may be continued indefinitely lack of railroad cars is the only i drawback this remedied and the 0 output is 13 easily easil maintained at beigh 1 cen een hundred to two thousand tons every day of the 3 ear while last months pa payrolls rolls show four hundred and eighty men employed aloyed d but two hundred and eighty of these were ere miners the rt mamin der being worked on outside or surface fa c improvements largely thi re are seventy five modern four to six room cottages at the camp for em plo aloyes es to say nothing of nationality houses a modern hospital store school house bakery and numerous thomas bell general superintendent kenilworth mines other buildings and dwelling places twenty new cottages have jut been finished cleanliness everywhere if the camp and the backyards of the dwellers were ere gone 0 over er with a fine tooth comb there would not be found as much as a barrel of rubbish cleanliness stands out at every turn much in contrast to some surrounding towns price and helper might learn something to the advantage of each from this coal camp fire h hydrants arants and hose cart houses houes ae conspicuous about the yards and avenues through kenilworth where there is a building space of thirty five feet the health of the place is excellent workers at and around other camps camp like to get on at kenilworth about the only draw drawback back to the camp in the past has been the water supply water is hauled in by irain train in water cars which are emptied into a large reservoir this is now being oer overcome come by the building of a reservoir just below helper where a pumping plant of two hund ed edana and fifty gallons a minute is to be installed electric power from kenil kend worth will be run down to the reservoir site this is to be installed and completed before cold weather sas the management the camp ia Is at the same time to be electric lighted water and wid lights near the reservoir site at helper and where the independents railroad has a junction with the denver and RIL grande a trin modern dern frame building for depot purposes is juat jt completed and one train a day in each direction of the denver and rio grande is to stop there to take on and put off passengers for kenilworth the depot also serves the inhabitants of spring glen who
