Complaint filed for oil dumping An anonymous complaint was filed with the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste. The complainant reported, On July 19th at approximately 1:30 pm, I observed Emery County Road Department workers dumping five 55 gallon drums which appeared to be full of used oil on the ground by the Emery County Landfill tree pile in the Northwest corner of the landfill, just outside of the fence." They brought the drums in a truck, dumped the oil from the drums and mixed it with dirt using a front-enloader. The oily soil Is sitting there In a pile about four feet high and six foot across," the complainant reported. The drums were purportedly brought from the airport, and contained water and some oil. The load was refused when it arrived at the Landfill. It was after this refusal that the alleged Hie- d gal disposal took place. The landfill has a tank to hold oil for recycling, but it is Illegal to dump free flowing oil into a landfill. The barrels should have been taken to the Lust Carbon Landfill where they are licensed to handle small amounts of hazardous waste. J A I) Automotive is a collection ren- - Contmuod on Pago 2.
