The coalition consists of representatives of various loeul agencies who deal with family violence in one way or unother. The mission statement of the coalition is to eradicate domestic violence of ull forms by providing intense education and information in ing. Coalition members also identify service needs in the community as well as coordinate existing services. Domestic violence is seen in all arcus of the social strata in our country Ihu'kground and income do not determine who will become a victim. Every fifteen seconds, a woman is buttered in the United States. Battering is the single major cause of injury to women und it is more fre- quent than injuries caused by auto accidents, muggings, and rajics combines. Women who leave their abuser are at a seventy five percent greater risk of being killed by the ubuscr than those who stay Help is available to victims of domestic violence. Safety is the number one concern. Victims can call Hi for any emergency situa1 tion. A womens shelter is located in Brice and also serves Emery County. Arrangements can lie made for emergency housing for men.
