NELSON Staff, Emery County Progress am going to do it. You would sooner or later. When it eomes to history, especially Emery County history, I cant help my indulgences of collecting1 it, reading it. listening for it, researching it, and sometimes writing it. I have many stories in mind; written in my head. Just getting them on paper is the problem. This "column" will be short bits of history, sometimes entertaining stories, sometimes just what was going on at the certain season in Emery County, or something about someone from Emery County who has made a mark on the world elsewhere. Yes, knew 1 I I will be asking for your help, the help of the Emery County Historical Society members, the older people in our county to help us remember when", and the younger people who look at history in a new light. I want to use some excerpts from the oral histories, especially those being taken around our communities right now by I probably will think so too. I want to make these bits of history readable and enjoyable. I will give my reference resources so that you can look up more if you want...and correct me when I need it. Please give your research documentation, which oral history, who has it, which book or personal history, etc. Also, I will need your full Swasev. plete mailing address. Since the Progress has many subscribers outside our area who have roots in Emery County, 1 look forward to talking and even meeting many of you. I think I can talk my good friends. Dr. Edward A. Geary, Dr. A. Kent Powell, Montell Seely, Jane McClenahan and Eva Conover, into writing up a bit of history for us now and then, too. Photos? Yes. Make a copy, just in case it is lost...in the mail. We will return all stories and all photos that have envelopes of the correct size, with sufficient postage to cover the return. Send your bits of history to Syhia'Bits of Historv, P. Q. Box Kathleen Truman and Margaret I want to use the interesting facts that Bryant Anderson tells me he learned about at the genealogical library. I want to use the family stories that go with the interesting people that Joanne Ekker is always digging up at the old grave yards in and around Green River. Every person is a history. Every person has such interesting things that have happened in their lives, and to their family. Every family has a skeleton in the closet", a horse thief or a black sheep, that their family tried to cover up, but when the story comes out years later, if it can without hurting anyone, it is a wonderful piece of history that shouldn't be lost.
