Show Castle Dale Utah Tuesday October 31, 2000 Process Emery County 9A Teachers recognized for excellence in education I am Hansen is the second grade tfacher at Cleveland Elementary. She is a teacher who truly does put her heart into education. She has been touching the lives of students for IS years. I Iam's students come first and lir caring attitude helps them to feel successful and have a desire to achieve their highest potential. Pam has invested a lot of her personal time to hone her teaching skills and become trained in several programs such as: 1) Four Block Literacy Program, 2) CLIP Reading Irogram to help struggling first Raders learn to read, 3) Ieer Tutoring (Cross-Age- ) Reading Program, 4) earned an English as a Second Language (ESL) and (5) (lifted and Talented Endorsement. The skills she gained in these programs were, in turn, implemented into her classroom. Again, this requires a great investment of time. Pam has succeeded in settingup exemplary programs both in Four Hock and CLIP. She was asked by the director of the Four Block Program to be a model classroom for other educators to isit and see the effeetis e w a s she is using the program. Siie has extended her CIJP training and tutors students after school for free because of her desire to help students achieve and fool successful. The heart of this educator is not confined to bettering her ow n classroom. but extends to the whole school. Pam has written grants and been the chairperson for the Artist in Residence program in the Fine Arts. This program brings superior cultural activities to our small, rural school and community. Many students would not otherwise lx able to participate in or attend these cultural events because of cost or geographic reasons. Our school aetiveh participates in the drug awareness program for Ribbon Month. Pam is our school's representative on the district lev el and also the chairperson over all the activities and programs our school sponsors during the month Iam believes in the worth of a child and has been the main facilitator for our school-- ide Caught Being Good" program. This program emphasizes the importance of good behavior and builds character skills that are important in today's society. Iams love of and involvement with the youth does not stop at the school's doors. She has txen a leader for a number of years helping them learn horsemanship skills and enablingthcm to participate in various contests. Pam is also active in the LOS Church and is currently serving as secretary in the Stake YoungWomen's presidency. Pain is a dedicated educator and exemplifies excellence in teaching" at all times and has made a significant impact on the lives of many children and adults. Stephanie Roper was born and raistd in Huntington. She is married to Shon Roper and they have two children. Stephanie worked for w 4-- By ASHLEY VAN WAGONER - Our Football team defeated San Rafael on Thurs., Oct. 19. The game went into the 4th qtr., 1 6- - 0 for SI U1 1. .At the end of the 4th qtr., they were tied at 16. Then it went into overtime with CVJH winninglhe game, taking 3rd place in the con6, ference. The Honor Society officers were elected recently. They are: president. Alaina Ungerman; vice president. Chandler Pearson; secretary Stevie Stream; treasurer, Jill Wall; and reporter, Ashley Van Wagoner. They are planning activities. Monsters on the Loose . Our JY Yolkyball team had it's tournament on Oil. 10. liny ended up with 2nd place. Our Varsity Volleyball team's tournament will be Nov. 1. at Emery High. Our Yolkyball team is seeded 1 and will play SRJH in the first round. There was a Chorus Concert on Oct. 26, held in the commons area. The Chorus also went on a field trip to a nursing home in Spanish Fork and the Beehive Center in Riverton. Some of the songs that they sang are Painless Opera", Sing with Jubilation", Shady Grove", and some more wonderful pieties. They will also be performing at Hunting-to-n Elementary Oil. 30. five vears.
