bet county building in the outside of salt lake county it is certainly something that good people of this neighbor d can feel proud of I 1 like to see ey expended for just such purs it means much for orchestra eAra and the music that it furnished for I 1 understand fron front the chan man that the orchestra arche was as not in existence beyond this present school year I 1 want to say to you that you arc are to be congratulated because of the mu musical ical talent to be developed by the bivs and girls of this neighborhood and I 1 con idea of the people of carbon county when I 1 see a berbon NEW COURT HOUSE DEDICATED LAST SATURDAY the orchestra upon their effort I 1 will say these things in the school aie ne u cesary and that every high school ought to have its orchestra and so far a p isible every district school governor spry then reviewed at considerable length the resources generally of the state its educational work of the past and what is hoped for the future con concluding eluding there is absolutely no reason for us to go off into other states thinking that it is better picking on the other side of the fence than it is within our enclosure lets see that our lives abilities and all the strength we have is devoted to the developing and building up of this great state utah I 1 thank you for your attention JUDGE christenson fellow citizens of carbon coun ty this is one of the proudest mo ments of my life this is the first opportunity that I 1 have had 0 of meeting with the citizens of this thi county and while it is unnecessary for me to say anything upon this occasion I 1 would feel entirely satisfied to simply tell you that the remarks made by our excellent governor would express to you my sentiments ti ments but I 1 feel also that I 1 am the recipient of the benefits of this magnificent ent building I 1 feel that I 1 owe to you my fellow citizens at least an expression 1 I believe that this building represents the combined without annoyance and in your consideration in the b 1 aiding of this magnificent truit t hou e I 1 nin am sure that the extort not alone of dour our humble servants ber vanta but every member and officer of this building will at all times be and rem in a temple of justice the ball game on the school grounds after the exercises exer cibes in the court hoube between castle gate and price resulted in a victory for price by a score of ten to four being witnessed by a large crowd A game of rugby football was played by two teams from sunnyside Sunny side and was watched with a great deal of interest A banquet was as tendered the governor and a number of out of town visitors at the mathis hotel in the evening about fifty being fed while a crowd of about thirty were taken to the home of mr air and mrs airs henry wade by the committee in charge and supper served them thern there the ev eing was spent in dancing at it both I 1 hoat q and town hall music va furnished throughout the day by bands from green river clear creek and price the clear creek band playing several selections on the street after the exercises ci aes in ia the court house both the visiting bands were good and th the 0 music music rendered by them was greatly enjoyed |
