The largest group of participants came from Emery County where educators played a large role. Other supporters and participants included the Emery County Public Lands Council, Emery Water Conservancy District, Emery County Economic Manti-L- a Development, Canyonlands Natural History Association, Castle Country Travel Region, Great Basin Environmental Education Center, San Rafael Soil Conservation District, State Parks, Price Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management and the Manti-L- a Sal National Forest. Iurticipants were broken into groups of mixed interests to create a vision of how people from many parts of the community can work together to use Ti healthy landscape Following the official welcome from Manti-L- a Sal Forest Supervisor, Elaine Zieroth and Council DiEmery Public Val the rector, group parIayne, ticipated in an introductory activity that validated their appre- , ciation and caring about the land. Participants were then di- jjj Jgtoii f vided into mixed interest groups where they discussed the type of activities (both realistic and creative) that could help children, parents and visitors learn alxnit the landscape. Each breakout group reported their ideas back to the whole group. Organizers hope enough good ideas and energy were generated to act as a catalyst for the group to move forward and implement their vision. The day ended with a celebration lunch featuring music from Val and Bernice Iayne and a poetry reading by Kent Petersen. A copy of all responses and ideas along with a contact list of those attendingwill be available and mailed to each :N 'V season, reports high-dema- Rolayne Fairclough, AAA Utah spokeswoman. Inventories remain high especially with Iraqs announcement to resume exporting oil. The downward trend in national prices is expected to continue throughout the rest of the nt AAA Utah. Although decreasing 12 cents in the last month, Moab continues to have the highest price of the cities surveyed with $1.71 per gallon. Ogden and Provo are the same at $1.56 per gallon. This price represents a indrop for Ogden and a crease for Provo. Orem comes in next at $1.52, a drop. Salt Lakes price fell 4 cents to nt Emery County Administration V : Gas prices drop in past month due to decrease in demand The national average gas price dropped 23 cents in the last month to $1.43 and Utahs average price followed with a reduction to $1 .55 reports . 381-543- 0747-2129- $ 1 .50. St. George had an 1 drop in the last month making its average price of $1.45 the lowest in the state. Utahs average price of $1.55 is the 15th highest in the nation. States in the northeast, with high fuel taxes, the Intermountain states, the Pacific Coast states and Hawaii have higher prices. This placement is typical because of the relatively small market in the Intermountain states, the distances between markets and the relative lack of competition. Utah has its owm refinery and own market and is not easily interconnected with the rest of the country, said oil analyst Alan Kovski. If the system is working well the price stays relatively stable. This was evident during the past months of extremely high prices nationwide and Utahs refineries were able to meet the local demand with relatively low prices.
