In dealing with students, I feel there needs to be consequences for actions, sometimes with rewards and sometimes with discipline depending on the potion. There are consequences in real life and kids need to realize that. Kids are really ex- teach them math and send them out. perimental at the junior high age. I read somewhere that kids this age are always trying on new faces and personalities. It is our job as teachers, faculty and staff to help them discover themselves, to help them to be successful kids. We cant just Im excited about working with students this year, we have a lot of good kids here. Since I have been at SRJH the enrollment has dropped from 540 students to 326 enrolled for this year. This declining enrollment has hurt our funding, schools WEDDINGS are underfunded. Also our economy in the area is de- pressed. We are becoming older communities again. We have a great staff; the custodians, lunch ladies, the bus drivers; everyone cares about these kids. I am moving into a good situation and I am very excited, said Johnson. Senior Continued from PAGE 1 B. fall of 1934, her sister and brother went back to Park City to school and Reta went back to the ranch to help her parents. Lloyd was hired on to help with the cattle. , At Christmas time, her parents decided to go to her sisters in Park City for the holiday. ! Lloyd and Reta wanted to go too, so Lloyd asked her mother if they could get married. On their way, they stopped at her sister, Lucretias in Helper, and she and her husband went back to Price with them, and Bishop Silas Rowley married them on Dec. 22, 1934. ' They went on to Park City the next day and celebrated Christinas. Times were very hard and no one gave expensive gifts as they do now. She remembers that she gave Lloyd a pair of sheepskin mittens and she cant remember what he gave her. C They lived at the Paradise Ranch the rest of the winter. She said it was so good to be able to spend time with her mother after being away from the last six winters. Her mother taught her so many things like how to make soap and to cook and to make quilts. Lloyd continued to work at the ranch. The next spring, Lloyd came in to Emery to help his father, and Reta stayed at the ranch until Etta and Kemp finished the school year and came home. Reta still has the treadle ne on which she sewed a quilt top made from the small tobacco sacks that the workmen saved for her when they learned that she could and would use the material that the bags were made of and were delighted at seeing the finished project. Lloyds parents were Chris and Ella Maxfield Jensen. When Lloyd and Reta were to move to Emery, Lloyds father moved his granary across the street to a lot that Lloyd bought from Byron Peacock for $500. Lloyds father plastered the walls and put in a door and two windows. Reta and Lloyds mother papered the walls. Retas parents bought a breakfast table and four chairs for $5 and lent them a cookstove and a bedstead. Lloyds mother gave them a washstand. Lloyd bought a cupboard for $12 and he made a trunk to store things in and made a little settee and put a car seat on it for a cushion. They bought a $7 linoleum rug from Bob Duzett and paid a little at a time for it. Money was scarce in those depression times but they were very happy in their little home. In August that summer, Reta went with Lloyd, for the first time that she had been on the Emery Mountain, to look after the cattle. She thought it was a grand time, and that it was so beautiful on the Their first child, Arden, was born in 1937.
