Fishing continues to be good with worm rigs and marshmallows, says Conservation Officer Stacey Taggart. The pond will be restocked once or twice before faH The trout limit on the tributaries is four. Blue Lake. Vehicle access to Blue Lake remains closed about a quarter mile from the lake. Fishing is poor because there is no access for stocking. The U.S. Forest Service plans to fix the bridge in August. Boulger Reservoir. Officer Stacey Taggart reports fair fishing with PowerBait or worms. The best fishing occurs in the morning and late evening, when the water is cool. The reservoir will be replanted before the end of the month. The trout limit on the tributaries is two. Cleveland Reservoir. The trout limit has been doubled at Cleveland Reservoir to encourage harvest of trout before the reservoir drains. Fishing success continues to be fair for 9 inch rainbow trout with baits or a mini Jakes in silver and red. Mornings and evenings are best. Colorado River. Catfishing remains good with worms. Duck Fork Reservoir. Fly fishing has been good for cutthroat and tiger trout with dark leech patterns. Use a line to get deep where the cutthroat are. Conservation Officer, Torrey Christopherson has suggested using a mohair leech, Adams or blue dun pattern in size Anglers are reminded to use only artificial flies or lures at this reservoir and its tributaries. The trout limit is twro at the reservoir and its tributaries. Electric Lake. Conservation Officer Stacey Taggart reports .that fly fishermen who match the hatch have done well in the morning or evening. Taggart warns boaters that the water level is so low that the concrete ramp is out of the water. Aquatics Biologist Mike Slater talked to some anglers at Ferron Reservoir who reported that the fishing is better than it has been in several years. Closure of the campground has lessened fishing pressure, leaving more trout in the reservoir. PowerBait is recommended. Fly fishing has also been good for rainbow and cutthroat trout with dark leech patterns, damsel fly nymph patterns or the Scofield Special. Fbr cutthroat trout, which average 5 inches in length, use line near the resa ervoir bottom where the depth is about 20 feet. A small silver Rapala has also been effective. This water will be restocked before fall. On July 30, Gooseberry received 1,200 catchable-siz-e rainbow trout. The limit on Gooseberry Reservoir tributaries is four trout. Grassy Lake. The lake is full and has been stocked. Fishing has been fair to good with PowerBait. Fly fishermen have had luck from a float tube near dusk using a nymph imitation. Another restocking is scheduled. Green River Golf Course Pond. No recent report. Fishing regulations are: bluegill limit 10, bass limit four with only one larger than 15 inches. Limits are the same for anglers of all ages. Huntington Creek. The creek is running muddy from recent rains. On the lower right fork, bait anglers have had good luck with live grasshoppers. The left fork has been fair for trout up to 15 inches long, using Beatrice Fazzio SPRING GLEN - Beatrice Cook Fazzio, 90, passed away Aug. 18, 2001 at Castle Country Care Center in Price. Limits are the same for anglers of all ages. Huntington North Reservoir: The water level is quite low: Boats can still be launched but the dock is in very shallow water and basically inaccessible. This means anglers will have few conflicts with other recreationalists. Berg expects fishing to be good for bass, bluegill and green sunfish off rocky' shorelines. The reservoir will be planted in September or October with 3,200 additional trout. The largemouth bass limit is two; all bass over 12 inches must be immediately released. large-mou- th Huntington Reservoir. Fishing continues to be slow' for tiger trout, which are mostly 5 inches. Try a small black and yellow Roostertail in the evening. The reservoir and its tributaries are closed to the possession of cutthroat trout and trout with cutthroat markings. Thetrouuimitisfour. Removal of tiger trout from the tributaries is encouraged. Any brown trout caught in the reservoir should be harvested. Indian Creek. Fishing has d rainbeen good for bow and cutthroat trout with spinners. 10-1- nice-size- Joes Valley Reservoir. Fishing continues to be slow. The trout limit is eight. No more than two trout may be splake. All splake between 15 and 20 inches must be immediately released. Release of all splake is encouraged to help control the chubs, which dominate the reservoir. Kens Lake. Officer Edward Meyers reports numerous bass and sunfish young-of-talong the shoreline. Trout are rising in the morning and evening. Meyers recommends Adams or black gnat patterns. Bass fishing is expected to be good with spinners and other minnow or crayfish imitations. Kens Lake will be replanted with trout in late October. Lake Powell. No bait or lures are allowed in this sec- Rocks on Roadway The winding road to Joes Valley can be a little rough on the nerves for drivers unfamiliar with the road. Throw in a rock slide with rocks larger than your vehicle, and it can be even more so. This photo of rocks that had fallen on the Joes Valley road close to the dam were taken in late July. Conservation Officer Edward Meyers urges fishermen and campers to keep a clean camp and to not leave coolers and trash out when sleeping or away from the campsite. A number of problem bears have been reported this year across the mountain. Oowah is scheduled to receive another 2,800 trout before the end of the fishing season. Hidden Lake has been good with salmon eggs and PowerBait or Panther Martin spinners. Dons Lake has been good with traditional baits. Dark Canyon has provided good fishingwith lures such as the Jakes Clarks Lake has been fair to good for brook trout up to 13 inches. Meyers recommends brown or olive wooly buggers fished close to the bottom at Clarks. Blue Lake is loaded with fish, says Meyers. Try flies such as mosquitos, Adams, and ant patterns. South Mesa Lake is closed to fishing this year. Mill Creek has been good for browns up to 14 inches with hopper, humpy and ant patterns. Low er Fish Creek. Fishing remains good in Lower Fish 5 inch brown Creek for trout. The road to DWRs lower Fish Creek property provides access to another good fishing location. Flows are suitable for fishing alongthe streams entire Spin-a-Lur- e. 12-1- length. Lowry Water. Fishing has been good for small trout (7--9 inches) with common baits. Marys Lake. Access is bumpy. Fishing has been fair to good in the eveningwith flies or rainbow spinners for trout. Miller Flat Reserv oir. The trout limit has been doubled. Fishermen are encouraged to take home a limit of fish ( 16 for licensed adults and eight for kids under 14) before draining occurs. Fishing has been sporadic for rainbow trout up to 12 10-in- ch inches. Millsite Reservoir. Fishing continues to be fair with traditional baits. The reservoir holds a lot of water. Petes Hole. No recent report. An additional 2,400 trout will be stocked by fall. Potters Ponds. Fishing has been fair with baits. Both ponds will be replanted several more times before the end of this years fishing season. San Juan County. Fishing has been fair to good at Monticello and Foy lakes for anglers using a dry fly and bobber. At Blanding 4, fishing has been slow to fair. Try green or marshmallows green PowerBait. Anglers are catching a few sunfish at Blanding 3. Scofield Reservoir. Shoreline fishing continues to be slow. Anglers, who still-fis- h or troll from a boat, are having slightly better, albeit sporadic success. Anglers have been using PowerBait, lures and worms. Fly fishermen may want to try a small brown fly, caddis, humpy, or Scofield Special. Most rainbow trout are 8 inches and cutthroats range 1 from inches. Release of trout is encouraged. A limit is in place at the reservoir and tributaries. Snow Lake. Fishing has been fair to good with traditional baits. Soup Bowl. Fishing continues to be slow to fair. One more restoddngwill take place before the end of the fishing season. 14-1- 14-2- four-tro- Spinners Reservoir. No trout have been nor will be planted in Spinners, due to a very low water level. Straight Canyon. Flows are usually too high this time of year for good fishing. Better conditions will occur beginning in October. Willow Lake. Fly fishing has been good for planted rainbow trout with a dark leech pattern. A good spinner is a small rainbow Krocodile. Anglers are encouraged to report any grayling caught to the DWR. One more restockingwill take place before the end of the fishing season. Wrigley Springs Reservoir. The reservoir is scheduled for replanting in September.
