County Attorney Dave Blackwell The first item on the agenda was the approal of the check edit list, additional claims, requisitions and dispositions. The commissioners noted that the heating bill at the Ferron Library is still twice as high or more than the other libraries in the county. Grand County Files for Injunction By PATSY STODDARD Editor Grand County has filed a motion for permanent injunction for declaratory relief in the matter of the Green River annexation of the Grand County portion of Green River Into Emery County. .Grand County is asking that the court declare the pending annexation to be v oid and unconpreliminary7 and stitutional Grand County is basing their motion on a joint resolution which amended Article XI of the Utah Consti- tution this past legislative session. This amendment made it clear that no annexation can take place without a majority vote from both the annexing county and the county losing territory. This amendment w as submitted to the voters of Utah and passed by a wide majority on Nov. 5. This amendment becomes effective on Jan. 1 , 2003. In September of this year, Governor Leavitt issued a proclamation declaring that the Green River annexation w'ould become effective on Jan. 6, 2003. Grand County believes that no such annexation can take place after Jan. 1 , 2003 because it would then be in clear violation of the amended Article . Many activ ities lmv e been held involving both the young and the young at heart. The Chamber of Commerce held their annual dinner for county seniors in Huntington on Dec. 1 1. The seniors were all treated to a dinner and a v isit from Santa w here many vv ishes vv ere heard The popular item on the gift list seemed to be a boy friend. One lively senior wished that Santa w ould just stay at her house on his Christmas Eve visit. Many communities includingGreen River, Ferron, Castle Dale, Orangev ille and Cleveland enjoyed community parties.
