THE MUSKRATS have been so over trapped m the DAVIS COUNTY has a new trapping regulation governing the taking of muskrats in the e marsh area, been severely reduced. Layton-Kaysvill- a Utah Wildlife Resources news release says. The Utah Wildlife board has shortened the trapping season on the e marsh to Dec. through Feb 28. In past years muskrat trappers have begun trapping muskrats in this marsh area as early as September and it has been heavily trapped until about May the following year The over trapping of muskrats in the marsh has contributed to a spread of cattail and denser vegetation which is detrimental to water owl production and habitat Layton-Kaysvill- The past five years due to huge increases in the fur market, that muskrat populations have Another complaint from trappers was that too many of the muskrats were being taken before their fur was prime and thus the resource was not being properly utilized. There has been some problem with trapping the rats so late that not enough of the population was left to breed. The Layton-Kaysvill- e marsh will be posted closed to trapping except during the period Dec. 1, 1982 to February 28, 1983 when muskrat trapping can occur. Violators of this law will be issued citations and a fine levied. All ready it has been reported that purpose behind the individuals are trapping muse krats in the marsh. In the case of William J. Breski, the waiver for curb, guttering and sidewalk was approved uacnimously. A request for sidewalk waiver made by Sam Chelemes was denied by a vote of 3 to 2. installed. In fact, the only property owners who want the sidewalks are the two who have homes built. COUNCILMAN Golden Sill said, What good is a sidewalk if it doesnt go someplace? Homeowners living west of Mt. Air Estates along Antelope Drive attended the meeting to protest installation of sidewalks, If Sam has to do it, sooner or later well all have to do it, the homeowners reasoned.
