KIM BARNEY of Kaysville took first place in the senior division. Second place went to Kevin Heath of Ogden and third place to Ramon Bassett of Bountiful. Winners in the junior : division were: Bruce Stanford, Ogden, first place; Lance Webb, Kaysville, second place and Mike Nybo, Kaysville, third place. JAY PRATT, West Bountiful, took Best player under 16. All winners were awarded beautiful trophies. The chess tournament is an annual event comprising of champions selected from each division of the northern Utah areas to compete for the big title. THIS YEARS annual event was held at the cafeteria of the Kaysville Jr. High School, : beginning Tuesday, Jan. 23, and continuing each evening until Friday, Jan. 26. The tournament games started at 6:30 p.m. and continued until 9:30 p.m. each night and were supervised by Wayne Sanford, assisted by Melvin Jacobsen, area committeeman. THE TOURNAMENT is conducted by the Northern Utah Area Athletic Association under the sponsorship of the LDS Church.
