It and s mb m . r n, tl M kt ( ( (I S tni j run h ts 1 s st nm j h m i h t y rif By DAVE WIGHAM - With eight KAYSV1LLL varsitv wrestlers returning off of a good club last year Coach Frank Thompson seems on his way to a great year this year at the helm of "the Davis wrestling program further indica things to come this year the Darts defeated Clearfield in their opening last match of the season week Clearfield had already beaten East in a dual meet so the Falcons are no pushovers What brings a smile to the coachs face though is the fact that seven of his wrestlers placed in the region meet a year ago and are back to improve on their finishes of 38-1- 4 STARTING AT the bottom the Darts start out strong and finish in the same manner Freshman Troy Meacham is holding down the spot at 98 pounds and his coach in dicates that its only a matter of time before he gets really tough experience is the key here In the 105 pound class the Davis club has junior Mike Taylor, who placed fourth at region as a sophomore In fact in the three weights the Darts have people back who finished high in the region meet last year SENIOR MAX Howard is back at 112 after placing fourth a year ago, then senior Mark Moulton is back at 119 He too placed fourth a year ago in region Junior Reger Parsell is back at 126 following a third place finish in region as a sophomore The coachs son, Andy Thompson, holds down the spot at 132 and he gives the Darts a lot of experience He is tall for his weight which creates some problems for opponents, plus with his father having taught him since who knows when, Andy knows just about all the moves and countermoves SENIOR ED Know Hon a very aggressive wrestler, is slated for action at i8 He is one of three wrestlers on th'1 squad who hasn't had varsity experience up until thisa season Drew Webster, senior with no experience, is at 145 Drew is shorter than 1 most of his opponents but is extremely agile and quick as well as strong Junior Gregg ShulHr is learning the ropes in the tough 155 pounds classifna non and then three top region finishers round out the club GARY PERCIVAL, a senior who placed fourth at region, is back at 167 Gary is tall and strong and knows the dedica non it takes to be a w,nner He is also the team captain Senior Kevin Criddle is back at 185 after a third place finish as a junior a year ago Coming off a successful foot Mt.
