The health department's letter said the present $136 per month isnt sufficient with the American Automobile Association and other groups paying 21 cents a mile for gas and vehicle maintenance An increase to $150 a month was requested averaging out to about IK 73 cents a mile compared to the present fee of about 15 cents a mile STATING that funds were available in the health department's budget for the increase, it was suggested in the letter that the higher rate be paid effective Sept. 1 But County Commission Chairman C. E. Bill" Moss said, I hope they can put with the present rate until January 1. The flat monthly fee is paid to employees making continuous extensive use of their own vehicles. A per mile reimbursement is paid those making only occasional use of private vehicles in their jobs tb ONE DIFFERENCE is in the man who assigns the officials For years Jim Hill of Bountiful was the arbiter in charge of officials and he was a man that officials had to impress before they were assigned varsity games. This year the new man has given some officials a shot at the big time and quite frankly some of them arent ready. For example in the two games I witnessed last week the officiating was bad. Not judgement calls but out and out goofs. In the Layton and Clearfield game the Lancers were given five downs in one series, dont ask me how the officials blew that one, but everyone there knew the Lancers had five downs but the officials. (jyi5k ONLY; (MIE010E1B 0GEC0CJ33? mw-kmini- x oexchangesj m m B Levi?Denims inonHRinife THEN IN the Bountiful and Bonneville game an official blew a call on a punt. Bonneville had punted the ball and as John Luddington of Bountiful waited to catch it he was tackled and the ball hit the Bonneville tackier on the head. No flag was thrown. When the Bountiful coaches protested no call, the official explained that no fair catch was signalled for. On a punt a fair catch doesnt have to be signalled for, the kicking team has to let the receiving team catch the ball Again a mistake in rules, not judgement. gCT-.T- eLJA r'C k OS5 m MS wlVixaiUfiSiB' Blouses DOOR.CRA SHERSt mmmnm DresslRants the other coaches, the ones who are affected by these missed calls, these werent the only two games with questionable officiating Im not saying the officials should be shot at dawn, but its a shame when the coaches and players work hard all week and then get a wrong call. These officials should look hard at themselves and study a little more. QfiiFcnit (777ft GitmJfe usmmnm IN TALKING to Refunds ZT i WfliUdsOdUMiB' Boots rr.Tt.g, SmtcJ.tH.'j.-- b Club Rocky Mt.
