They were all on hand for the blessing and naming of the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Ward who was blessed Sunday at the Kt Eighth LDS Ward Chapel ys-vil- le during the Fast and Testimonial meeting. The Kaysville East LDS Stake youth will attend their annual LDS Youtn Conference to be held Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Utah State University In Logan. Mrs. Ardene Grandquist of Concord, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Phillips of Connecticut were visitors in Kaysville last week of Mr. and Mrs. Irving W. Christensen, Mrs. Hanna and Miss Zena Jarman Williams. Ardene and Joe were former Kaysville residents and lived here until the time of their marriage and are well remembered by many Kaysville residents. Mrs. Irene Higley and two daughters Mrs. Dixie Melton and Miss Crystal Higley of Shoshone, Idaho were guests last week of her sister and brother-in-laMr. and Mrs. Wilford Smith. Jaycees Layton The Layton Jaycees are beating Jerry Lewis national telethon to the punch by sponsoring a concert featuring the international dancers from old Mexico, "Festival said Dr. Richard Mexicano, Clouse, Layton Jaycee president. THIS activity is part of the Jaycees summer-lon- g program to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the voluntary health organization that provides free care to children and adults afflicted with .neuromuscular disorders. The group is headed by Ed gar Solano, a famous dancer from Mexico City. Their show has been seen across the nation and Latin American countries and features authentic costumes, some costing up to $2,000 each. THE LARGEST performance in this area was with Lucero Folklorico in special tribute to LDS President Spencer W. Kimball in Salt Lake City, with Cottonwood High being packed to overflowing. This special concert is scheduled for August 27 at the Layton High auditorium at 8 p.m. According to Clouse, the Will Raise Funds For group, even though internationally known, is willing to lower its fees because the proceeds are being donated to the MDA campaign. The Evans, after attending their son Davids graduation ROTC from Advanced Summer Camp drove on to Vancouver and Victoria British Columbia. BLODGETT A law suit to determine if former Clearfield Job Corps counselors should be compensated for lost sleep has been put to rest in U.S. District Court. THE $300,000 civil suit filed by 14 former Job Corps counselors has been recessed until later this month because Judge Aldon J. Anderson has gone on vacation. non-jur- No Cows In Patrol Car A complaint against animal control officers was lodged by Dub Sheriff William Lawrence who said that officers failed to pick up an injured cow for over 24 hours. The cow was hit by a car at 2600 South in North Salt Lake. SHERIFF Lawrence said the cow was tied to a fence by the side of the road while highway patrol officers tried to contact animal control of- ficers at Fruit Heights. He said the cow had been hit by a a Lincoln Con- tinental. He complained to Commissioner C.E. Moss, who is responsible for the animal control, that it was impossible to contact animal control officers at night or on the weekend. ANIMAL control officers should be available on a rotating basis, he said. They should bail out of bed and handle the problem. He said that law enforcement officers have a "reoccuring problem in contacting animal control officers. Commissioner Moss said he would contact Noel Evans, director of Animal Control, about the problem. He in- dicated that Mr. Evans has a list of the animal control officers and their schedules and should be responsible for the problem.
