The county commissioners met in regular session Monday July 1, 1929, A committee consisting of H. C. Burton and John W. Thornley, representing the board of education, appeared before the commissioners, protesting the rebuilding of the arsenal. They stated that the arsenal is located on some of the choicest land in Davis County, that thousands of dollars in tax revenue was being lost every year through this property being tax fee; that homes would not be built near the property on account of the danger that people thought might be attached to such a place, and that for various reasons they thought protest should be made. They asked that the commissioners take some steps in preventing the rebuilding of the arsenal. The eonimiision-- c went on record as favoring the protest as presented y Mr. Burton and Mr. Thornlev, and to this end they called a mass meeting to be held in the auditorium of the Layton public school building next Monday evening, July 8, at 8:30 oclock, at which all citizens of the county are invited to attend. A special invitation is extended to all the mayors and councilman, and all Lions clubs and other civic organizations, in the county. Bargain Triced; Ideal for Camping.
