Thats important, because the influenza virus (flu) affects anywhere from percent of Americans every year. In addition, more than 200,000 people in the U.S. are hospitalized from flu complications annually. The Centers for Disease Controls web site, www.cdc.gov offers the following tips on flu: avoid close contact with people who are sick and if a person is sick, they should keep their distance from others to protect them from getting sick, too. If possible, stay home from work, school and errands when sick. This will help prevent others from catching the virus; cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing; washing hands often will help protect from germs. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches their eyes, nose or mouth. According to the web site, www.aboutgerms.com, a public education service of the Consumer Specialty Products Association, certain household disinfecting products may help prevent the spread of flu as well. Tne site says disinfection is an important way to protect all family members from illness, including those family members with a vulnerable immune systems, newborns and children, the elderly, people with serious illness or those who are recovering from hospitalization, MT. On Wednesday, FFA members went to the opening session at the convention center where they were addressed bv Keynote Speaker Joe Thiesman, on the subject of excellence. Students noted it to be an inspiring speech they all enjoyed. Thursday, Oct. 28, the group spent the day at the convention attending the career fair and workshops. Friday they attended the morning session of the convention then went to the Louisville Slugger Museum in downtown Louisville.
