PLEASAN- T- Three cities, Fairview, Manti and Gunnison will hold Primary Elections Tuesday, Oct. 7. Other cities and towns will hold a General Elections, Tuesday, Nov. 4. Candidates running for city council seats in Fairview are Allan P. Hall; Barrett Allred; Curtis Coates; Johnathan E. Benson; Kristy Jensen; Larry R. Hansen; LLoyd D. Bright ; and Peggy K. Johnson. Manti has 10 candidates since . running for three four-yecity council seats. Incumbent Alan Justesen is seeking Karen Buchanan; Karen Christensen; Mitch Jenkins; Diane Keeler; Larry Lund; Linda Smalley; Vaun Mickelsen; Wendell Thayne; and Jason Vernon are seeking a first term. Gunnison has the mayor office open along with three four-yecouncil seats. Scott R. Hermansen, who is curserving as acting rently mayor;, and Lori Nay are running for mayor. Rodney Taylor is the only incumbent council member ar ar running 1977 building for Wendy Higham; Larry K. Jensen; Mark Pickett; Steven Buchanan; Larry N. Caldwell; Johnny Goble; and Robert Judd are looking to win a council seat. Larry Ilansen Larry R. Hansen is a lifelong resident of Fairview where he and his wife, Lee Ann, has raised a family of five children. He served on the city council at a young age and served on the volunteer fire department for many years. He has been president of Hansen Lumber Company and a general contractor in Sanpete County since 1964. He is continuing his building business and has managed the Sanpete County Cooperative Landfill since it opened. He appreciates, as a citizen, the interest of all who are trying to make Fairview a beautiful place to live. He would like to see the sewer plant put in, the city cleaned-u- p and the streets reoiled as quickly as possible. He says he will not make a lot of promises, but he has a lifetime of interest and have several ideas that he thinks will help Fairview be a better place to live. Curtis Coates Curtis Coates was born and raised in the Fairview area. He started working at his dads service station when he was sixteen. He graduated from North Sanpete High School and has an AA degree from Snow College. He enjoys his marriage and has six children, all of which have graduated from North Sanpete. He has nine grandchildren, five living in Fairview. He enjoys photography, the San Rafael Swell, his r, working with wood and keeping old cars running. Curtis would like to see Fairview "go back in time", to a time where everyone were all neighbors and knew when our neighbors needed help. Back to where we all supported each other in whatever was needed. She is the wife of Que Jensen and mother of four. Two sons and their families live in Fairview. Kristy Jensen Larry Hansen Kristy is an active member of the LDS Church and is presently serving as ward coordinator for the Family Records Extraction Program. She has served for one and a half years at the Stake Family History Center in Mt. Pleasant. She has served as captain of the North Bend Daughters Utah of the Pioneers; Fairview City Beautification Jonathan Benson Chairman for three years; cofounder of the Central Utah Food Sharing in the six county organization; and of the Sanpete County Food Bank pantry in Mt. Pleasant, she and her husband, Que, volunteer there about 10 hours a week. School North Sanpete District has historically employed excellent music teachers, who have prepared students through classroom for special participation and seasonal performances festivals state and programs, competitions. Music participation adds a dimension of memories that last a lifetime. For some students, being in the school musical is one of the highlights of their high school experience. Roy Ellefsen, the schools concert choir director and Anna Aagard, the concert choirs accompanist, along with Bob Beal and Craig Clark, who teach the band programs, general music and general choir classes, keep a tradition of making music education, a part of life here in Sanpete. They have been preceded by excellent music teachers who also have uplifted and through inspired students their music education. Denise James Busby, Willey, Kelly Richardsen, Nadine Nibley, Jay Christensen, Vernon P. Johansen, Ernest B. Terry and Henry Terry are among some of the teachers most remembered for touching the lives of at North students music School. Sanpete High A good piano is an essentool necessary to the success of music education. The need for an excellent piano to support and compliment the excellent music education that goes on at NSHS is what this project is tial about. NSHS has selected a new Baby Grand piano to be purchased from Keith Jorgensens Music, Orem. Fundrais all ing for this piano has begun and local businesses have been supportive with their charitable giving. The NSHS auditorium is scheduled for a fundraising with artist James concert Oneil Miner. He will perform a benefit concert on the new piano in October . Miner is an accomplished piano performer and entertainer. He has recorded a series, "Dream With Me" on CD, that includes some of the worlds most loved Students at North Sanpete High School (NSHS) can confirm a good piano is an essential tool, necessary for music appreciation. It supports and compliments excel-lent music education.
