PLEASAN- T- The North Sanpete Spiriteers recently returned from a National Dance Alliance summer camp at Weber State University. The National Dance Alliance selects award winners at each of the over 1,100 camps it administers around the world each summer. NDA, the largest privately held dance organization in America, holds events for over 150,000 cheerleaders and dancers around the world. Founded in 1948 by L.R. The National Herkimer, Cheerleader Association and the National Dance Alliance have been conducting camps over 50 years. The dancers received the n,t $ 4 awards at the following National Dance Alliance summer camp they attended: NDA spirit award: awarded to the team which was most admired by the other teams at camp. Each team casts one vote to their buddy instructor to select the one team at camp that exemplifies true team spirit and comradeship. Technical growth: presented to the team nominated by the staff for all around technical improvement during the camp. I 9 ? I Superior showmanship a daily award certificate; presented to teams that show outstanding projection during class sessions. NDA team award: selected by the staff, is awarded to the team that is the epitome of the all around superior of leadership, team in areas teamwork, performance and positive attitudes. Team dance circle of winners; awarded to the teams that performed in the Team Dance Run Off with overall superb technique, showmanship, precision and memory. The North Sanpete Spiriteers received a Silver award in each division. Home routine trophy: awarded to those teams that were the most outstanding performers based on NDA standards of excellence at the Home Routine Performance. All American: awarded to the most dancers display strong technical and memory skills, superior projection and showmanship, advanced dance ability, good physical condition, dedication, attitude and leadership. The following dancers were awarded as Nicole Bradley, Fairview, daughter of Brett and Terry Bradley; Whitney Clawson, Wales, daughter of Karl Clawson; Lindsey Larsen, Spring City, daughter of Chad and Tracy Larsen; and Nikki Shepard, Mt. Pleasant, daughter of Kevin and Angie well-round- ed Shepard. Top Gun recipient: this was a fun award presented to the winners of the Top Gun Competition in areas of leaps and turns, funk, and kicks. The Spiriteers had winners in each category they were: leaps and turns, Lindsey Larsen; funk, Nikki Shepard; kicks, Nicole NDA Top was awarded to Lindsey Larsen, this award is given to the highest scored Team Member at All-Ame- rican camp. NDA national championship bid winner: The Spiriteers received a bid to the NDA National Dance Championship at Hard Rock Live, Southwest by presented Airlines. The National Dance Championship competition will be held, Dec. 30, in Dallas, TX. The Spiriteers will be holding their annual Drill Team Camp for children ages three and up in August.
