Federal1 Trade Commission advise consumers to avoid advance fee loan brokers. Be aware that legitimate lenders never "guarantee" or promise that you are likely to get a loan before you apply, especially if you have bad credit, no credit or a bankruptcy. Advertisements that promise easy loans generally appear in the classified section of newspapers and magazines, on the Internet or on local cable stations. "Unfortunately, advertising in recognized media outlets does not guarantee the legitimacy of the company behind the ad. Check with the BBB before responding to any BBBs and the advertisement from an unknown business," Hunter said. The numbers are no different in Utah. There are nearly 85,000 children who, during the school year, access free or reduced price lunch, who do not have access to a summer meal site. "While Utahs ranking in the FRAC report is high, there are gaps throughout the state that leave kids with nowhere to eat," says Steve Blackham, a child nutrition advocate at Utahns Against Hunger. "Theres a lot of room for improvement." FRACs report ranks states by assessing their performance in reaching needy with summer youngsters meals, either through school lunch or the summer food program, compared to regular school year meals. If states performed just at the level achieved by states with the best records in recent years, 40 students served in the summer for every 100 served during the regular school year, FRAC estimates the programs would feed another 3.8 million children in communities and provide a total of $141 million in additional federal funds in communities across the nation. The FRAC report contains analysis of the shortfalls contributing to this overall gap. "This report from FRAC demonstrates that in order to alleviate childhood hunger in the state of Utah, we must create the political will to give every child access to nutritious meals year round," said Blackham. "This report shows that low-inco- state-by-sta- te to expand these resources by lowering the eligibility to 40 percent by allowing school districts to operate more open sites.
