The kitchen was constructed at the south end of the Cultural Hall and also included a new mainteroom and nance, machinery area. storage The location of the new kitchen will simplify use of the cultural hall as the old kitchen was in the basement of the building which meant food had to be carried up stairs for socials, funerals and other activities. The kitchen has tv e stoves, a large refrigerator, new dishes and utensils, , and added counter space. The sink was placed under an existing west window. There is also a locking service window that faces into the main section of the cultural hall. Construction was done by the LDS Church physical maintenance crew. Those viewing and overseeing the construction commented on the quality of work and craftsmanship that went into W- w the project as all work was done with standards far above code. The buildings cultural hall was one of the few buildings that the LDS Church owns that does- nt have a basketball court, so the creation of the kitchen was not an intrusion to the facility. The existing kitchen will be used primarily for classroom space, but will retain some of the original equipment so that it can be employed when light refreshments are served downstairs. The machinery room houses the equipment to assist in maintaining an even temperature in 1 the upper portion of the building. Church leaders state that the new kitchen will make for a Safer, more workable facility when both kitchen and cultural hall are needed.
