Show November 11, 1998 - The Pyramid Class of 1941 holds class reunion Tips offered to help youth in our communities succeed LOGA- N- As parents, grand- parents and other adults concerned about the youth in the community, one might wonder what to do to help them succeed. Recently, Utah State University released a few tips than anyone can do as an individual to interact with young people and help them succeed. Smile at kids. Acknowledge them while passing them in the community. Learn the names of young people in the neighborhood or congregation and say "hi" regularly. Take an interest in the activities of young adults. Talk to them about their interests. Young people need support from caring adults outside their family. Help them feel important. PLEASAN- T- The Moroni High School class of 1941 recently held their class reunion at the Horseshoe Mountain Restaurant. Those in attendance were Wendell Anderson, Rhea Black-haSorenson; Revis Christesen, Fremont Martin, Kay Hansen, Ray Black-haGideon Jolley, Craig Davis, Adria Jacobson Munk, Harold Thomas, Hanna Ivory Wetmore, Izola Jacobson Blackham; Enid Seeley Martin, Mildred Allred Mower, Cherill Johnson Carlson, Ruth Nelson Harmer, LaRue Draper Brotherson and Lenna Johnson Larson. m They have creative ideas and great energy. Involving them leads to good decisions that they will support. Volunteer to work with young people. Give some time to them, their future is everyones future. Provide good work environments for young people as an employer. Employers can build character and skills in them as they mentor, foster initiative, and compliment good work. Support policies that allow employed parents needed flexibility to be involved in the lives of their children. Employers that give parents flexibility in work schedules so that they can attend a parent-teachconference or take a child to the doctor are strengthening adolescents by supporting the family. When one hears about youth violence, teen pregnancy and substance abuse, the problems can seem too big to do anything about them. But everyone can make a difference by being youth builders in homes, neighborhoods, schools, congregations, workplaces and communities. Such individual efforts will add up to a positive future for young people. PLEASANThe Pub- call GIFTS The Museum of History and Art is holding an exhibition of landscape paintings titled Pastoral Utah: Artwork from the Utah State Fine Arts Collection, until Dec. 3. Museum hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. The State of Utah has been collecting artworks created by Utah artists1 Since 1899 when the ' legislature established the Utah Art Institute which was the forerunner of the Utah Arts Council. The first such state arts council in America. Today, the collection numbers over 1 100 works and includes oil paintings, watercolor, photography, mixed media, crafts and sculpture. The scenes of pastoral Utah represent a nostalgia for a landscape that is rapidly vanishing. Rural areas have been painted by many Utah painters as well as artists visiting the state and all have been intrigued and inspired by the beauty of the land. Each artist has expressed an individual response with sensitivity and variety to the serenity of pastoral regions.
