Festival of trees aids children Academic SALT LAKE CIT- Y- The Festival of Trees, A Gift of Love to needy children, will be held Dec. 2, through Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Salt Palace. All-sta- te awarded to seven NS students MT PLEASAN- T- Seven North Sanpete students were selected for Academic Awards. Only 10 students are chosen for this award in each classification. Ricky Rigby, Hayley Palmer, and Marlece Rawlings were selected in volleyball. Nick Kowalski was given the award for football, Colton Heaps for golf, Mary Jane Parnell and LeeAnnj f Slack for tennis. "We have never received soi honors' many Academic in the history of North Sanpete1 High School," said Principal Courtney Syme, "and we have never had more than two in any one sport. With all the tough competition in the four 3A regions, this is an important distinction, not only for the individuals but for the school as well." The award is based on student performance on the team, grade, point average, and service to the school and community. Wilkins, judge for Utah State Court of Appeals, K.L. Mclff, Sixth Judicial District; and Ned Jensen, Sanpete County Justice Court were all given the nod for retention. Propositions All propositions were passed by county voters. Proposition 1, for legislative eligibility resolution received 4,597 for and 745 against. For Proposition 2, to repeal marital property 3,569 voted for and 1,685 voted against. For Proposition 3, for acceptance of trust lands resolution, 4,425 voted for and 892 voted against. For Proposition 4, eliminating voting rights of convicted felons, 4,545 voted for and 938 voted against. For Proposition 5, establishing wildlife initiative numbers, 4,600 voted for and 1,141 voted against. For Proposition 6, review of tax commission cases. 3,809 MT PLEASAN- T- The feasibility of making Sanpete County a major Utah snowmobile destination is being studied by Sanpete County Heritage Council and Mt. Pleasant Main Street Program, according to a Sanpete Heritage Council press release. ,A residential and recreational development is in the works on Legacy Mountain, located a few miles outside of Mt. Pleasant near Skyline Drive. In addition to large-lprivate the residences, development would include a sports park with snowmobile and snow boarding routes and attractions. Monte Bona, Heritage Council member, said with the private project already underway, it is logical for the county to study the feasibility of turning the area into attraction. an That would include marketing the snowmobile trails, areas and resorts as part of a Sanpete County package. In the North Sanpete School District races, Hansen garnered 207 votes defeating Ivory with 193. Hall received 294 to Nelsons 231 votes.
