Against Wasatch, Ryan Johnson completed seven of 1 1 passes for 106 yards, and is 11 of 18 for 237 yards for the season. His quick feet made him a double threat as Johnson rushed for an even 100 yards in the season opener and added 59 more against Wasatch. Nose-guar- d Casey Parry and linebacker Justin Hansen added two sacks each. Hansen, first team last year, seems to spark the Hawk defense which has not given up a score yet this year when a game was in doubt. The two touchdowns scored by both Pine View and Wasatch have come late in the games when the outcome was not in question. Coach Uperesa Offensively, must replace First Team Riley Jensen who led the nation last year in passing before winding up at Utah State after a brief stint at BYU. The controls offensively will be rt placed in the hands of freshman, Fred Salanoa. Fleet-foote- d Salanoa, the youngest brother of Badger assistant coach, Allen Salanoa, promises to bring a strong arm to the quarterback position. Salanoa will have a bevy of talented receivers to throw to this year, led by Second Team David Steel. Steel will be accompanied by former high school teammate, Kevin Curtis, at the receiver spot with Brandon Nelson seeing plenty of action. Returners Dave Matagi and Luke Rasmussen provide experience for the Badgers on the 295-181- ering three fumbles against Pine View. However, neither contest so far could be called a defensive struggle as the Hawks have an offense that has been equally impressive, amassing 540 yards total offense against Pine View and 428 against Wasatch. Anchored by two imposing tackles, Tyler Bailey and Ikiaka Uperesa, the offensive line has been dominant in its first two outings. Guards Chad Sunderland and Jake Ramsey along with center Calvin Allred have teamed with Bailey and Uperesa to blow holes in defensive lines at will. The Hawks like to run a counter play, and even though the defense knows it is coming, the offensive lines execution is so good that so far this year opponents have been unable to stop it. This has allowed big games by Hawk running backs who, after two games, have 731 yards rushing in 91 attempts for an average of eight yards per carry. Halfback Dalen Johnson leads with 216 yards against Pine View and 140 yards versus Wasatch. His 356 yards have come in 43 attempts for an average of 8.3 yards per carry. Fullback Garrett Olson leads the team with 9.1 yards per carry coming on 15 rushes for 137 MT.
