Show February 28, 1996 - The Pyramid - Page Three Tina Sperry, J.L. Bailey wed in Manti LDS Temple ampete Life MONA--- Craig and Mary Lou Sperry announce the marriage of their daughter, Tina, to J.L. Bailey, son of Jack and Iona Bailey, Nephi, and the late Enid Bailey, on Saturday, March 2, 1996, in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception will be held in their honor that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Nephi LDS Stake Center, 350 North 100 West. The bride is a graduate of Juab High School and LDS Seminary. She attends Snow College and will graduate in the spring. She is employed at Juab Title and Abstract Company. The bridegroom is a graduate of North Sanpete High School and LDS Seminary. He served an LDS Spanish speaking mission in Morristown, NJ. He is currently attending Snow College and will graduate in the spring. The couple will make their home in Ephraim. Dreamkeepers to visit Crane Theatre at Snow EPHRAIM The final Snow College Convocation of the quarter features singers from the Utah Opera Company explaining "How an Opera is Made: Dreamkeep- ers". Please note that this convoca- tion is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, in the Crane Theatre, at Bailey, 12:30 p.m. This is a change from Ima Sperry the regular Thursday schedule. The public is welcome. The Utah Opera Company has its roots in Sanpete County, Founded 18 years ago by Mt. Pleasant native Glade Peterson, it has grown to enjoy a reputation of one of the major regional opera companies in the country. This year, UOC made history by premiering a newly commissioned, completely original opera, developed over the last four years, to celebrate the Utah Helen McKinnion shares Utah hundredth birthday this year by Barbara Gordon read the name, but walks unattended. Her grandson, David Crosland, is Bishop of Moroni Second LDS Ward, and another grandson, Tim Blackham, is a counselor in Moroni Stake Presidency. Although she is legally blind, she walks to the post office every day to get her mail and monthly to city hall to pay her bills. She still lives in her own home, taking care of herself, cleaning, cooking and gardening. She is often seen in her garden in the summertime tending to her flowers. A talented quilt maker, her family invented a way for her to tell where to place the ties. She still makes quilts for each new baby that comes into her family. She has 24 grandchildren, 108 and 22 MORON- I- Helen Christensen Olson McKinnion is Sanpete Countys own Centurion. She will turn 100 years old Nov. 29, 1996. She was born to Peter and Helena Jensen Christensen in Moroni on Nov. 29, 1896. She married John Manley Olson on Sept. 15, 1915, in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Jan. 6, 1972. They have four daughters: Christy Johansen, Mt. Pleasant; Olive Blackham, Moroni; Jackie Stephenson, Sandy; and Helen Crosland, deceased. She married Ray McKinnion June 3, 1972. They served in the South England LDS Mission from 1972 to 1974. He died July 14, 1978. She has always been an active member of the LDS Church, she still attends four sessions at the temple one day each week. She uses a small magnifying glass to and the First Presidency of the LDS Church. She will also appear in a horse-draw- n buggy, owned by Dick and Joan Webb, leading the Centennial Wagon Train into Moroni in June. p.m. Happy MT. PLEASAN- TNorth Sanpete High School Concert Choir members had a command performance at a session of the Utah State Legislature last week. The choir sang two selections in Senate chambers. After the performance the choir toured the state Capitol building. Director Roy Ellefsen stated that the choir was also asked to perform for the Utah State School Board Convention last January. "Im delighted that we are receiving some recognition. In the past only the big Davis, Salt Lake and Utah county schools received these kinds of invitations. Im pleased to see what I hope is a growing recognition that students in rural schools can achieve excellence also, stated Ellefsen. PLEASANT-Hon- or roll students at North Sanpete are chosen not for one semester of excellence, but for their overall effort during four years of high school. This year, 36 seniors have earned honor roll status by earning a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above 3.5, with 24 achieving high honor roll status. This years top students n of all represent a communities in the northern part of Sanpete. They are also 24 of North Sanpetes most active and involved students. The high honor roll includes all student officers, many athletes, drill team members, Sterling Scholars, FFA members, band and choir members and others who make the school successful. In order to be cited as high honor students in the Class of 96, students must be eligible for graduation, maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.7 for all four years, and have no classes listed as incomplete.
