Shelley Washburn, Moroni Elementary School PTA repreconcern sentative, expressed about the emergency preparedness plan within the district. She mentioned how two years ago when the middle school and high school had both received bomb threats, she had difficulty locating her children. She ask for board and support in investigating approving emergency preparedness plans that would best meet the needs of families within the district. Board President Allan Hall asked Superintendent Dennis Mower to check into how this needs to be coordinated between schools, cities and county. Wash-bustated that she would check with other districts to see how they are handling the situation. She said she would serve on a committee to assist the district in facilitating the matter. Renae Hart and Principal Perry Christensen showed a model of new playground equipment Moroni Elementary School would like to purchase. The total cost of the equipment will be $19,221. The school has several fund raisers planned. Hart left several school cook books at the district office which are part of that fund raising effort. Students are also collecting pennies (or loose change). Discussion of a high school rodeo club was presented by board member Ron Ivory. North Sanpete rodeo students have been receiving many awards while participating in Juab High Schools Rodeo Club. Rodeo clubs are not part of the Utah High School Activities Association. Board members were concerned about medical liabilities should a student be injured. They said they would entertain the idea of approving a rodeo club if sufficient interest and information were shown. Auditor Sid Gilbert reported that the financial records of the school were in good shape. He had only minor recommendations such as covering student lunchroom assistants on workmans compensation and making an inventory of equipment throughout the district. The board thanked Darin Johansen, district business administrator, for the fine work he does in keeping the books and finances in such order. Dale Allsop, district building contractor, stated that the high school addition should be completed by Christmas, but Fountain Green Elementary will not be m completed until The board approved a $1,500 purchase of one share of Fountain Green Irrigation Water offered by Clayton and Helen mid-Januar- y. Syme. Marilyn Shields from the State Board of Education was in attendance. Next months board meeting will be held at the district office on Dec. 12. The public is welcome.
