PLEASAN- T- The Sanpete Youth Pioneer Pageant will begin Friday, June 30 at North Sanpete High School Football Stadium. Performances are also scheduled Saturday, July 1, and Monday July 3. Merrill Osmond and Jared Osmond will head up the Sanpete Youth Pioneer Pageant as masters of ceremonies. Written and directed by Merrill Osmond, the pageant depicts the persecution of the early Mormon Church in Missouri and the exodus and location of the Saints in Utah. Cast entirely of youth 18 and younger, the story is told in about 20 scenes beginning with the gathering of the pioneers in pre-sho- w Hanson, Preston Holgreen, Sheldon Holgreen, Tristalee Holgreen, Jeff Jackson, Corinne Jacob, Doug Jacobson, Kristen Shane Johansen, Johansen, Aaron Justesen, Rachel Justesen, Lorien Lott, Marcom Lott, Amberlee Madsen, Stephanie Malan, Treak Malan, Anna Martindale, Jessica McClellan, Melissa McClellan, Josh Merrill, Ruth Mellor, Jared OBrien, Ashley Olson, Bailey Olson, Jessica Olson, Heather Sheila Osmond, Osmond, Troy Osmond, Ryan Pearson, Alisa Perry, Kirsten Perry, Chelsea Ream, Lacie Ream, Heather Russell, Michelle Seely, Natalie Seely, Cammy Missouri. Other scenes portray mob violence; the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith and the naming of his his successor Brigham Young; construction of wagons and handcarts for the trek west; and the adversities along the way. The pageant also depicts trials the pioneers faced after arriving at their destination and their numerous encounters with Indians. A tribute to early explorers and the diversity of other settlers are also portrayed through song and dance. A spectacular fireworks display choreographed with the taped soundtrack will be included in the finale. Sanpete Valley Hospital Foundation Boardmember Elna Pageant pre show features local high school talents T- The Sanpete Youth Pioneer Pageant Pre feature local high school talent during its three-nigrun. On Friday, June 30, Josh Rassmussen, of North Sanpete, will play a trumpet solo entitled "Concertino"; Kris Ann Cox, of North Sanpete, will sing 'Til Never Get Over You; and Samuel Inouye, of Gunnison, will play "Tarantella" on cello. Saturday, July 1, will feature Jordan, Meili, Samuel and Sarah Inouye, of Gunnison, performing "Patriotic Melody" in group MT. PLEASAN- Show will ht strings. A mixed vocal group from Manti will sing "Shenendoah". The group includes Holly Dyreng, Heather Simpson, Camille Barclay, Channie Wendell, Brandon Lambert, Jeremy Cox, Chris Adams, Joe Liddell and Scott Grinstaff, with Angela Lambert directing. Rachel Hamblin, of Spring City, will play "Seguidilla" and "Tango" on the harp. Monday, July 3, features Ben Dyches, of North Sanpete, singing, "Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long". Jordan Inouye, Gunnison, will play the "Orange Blossom Special" on violin and Elizabeth Hall, of Fairview, will sing "Hold On" from the Broadway production of "Secret Garden". entertainment will be provided by emcee Jared Other Osmond, who will perform two numbers from his recent album, and a special dance performance is planned by Dance Attack and Utah Express. A flag salute with 50 state flags presented by Sanpete District Boy Scouts, with flags courtesy of the Utah National Guard is planned all three nights. The national anthem will be sung on Friday, June 30, by Dave Thomas; Saturday July 1, by Boyd Goble; and Monday July 3, by Osmond Second Generation. Pleasant City is providing police and fire department services, and roads and grounds personnel. Traffic control is under the direction of the Sanpete County Search and Rescue and Mt. Pleasant City Police. Clean up is organized by Rhea Stewart, Farrel Marx, local Boy Scouts, LDS Young Men and Young Women. Local housing has been organized by Rebecca Washburn, Sue Johansen, Wasatch Academy, Barbara Ann Johansen and Victor Rasmussen. The backhoe rodeo will again be a highlight of Mt. Pleasants Hub City Days, taking place on Tuesday, July 4 at 7 p.m. Those interested in participating in this years Mt. Pleasant City July 4th childrens parade should be prepared to line up at 9 a.m. north of the old high school gym. Judging will take place at 9:15 a.m. where prizes will be awarded.
