Show Page Six - The Pyramid - December 1, 1993 Moroni water, sewer connection fees re-rat- es by Barbara Gordon MORONI The City Council decided to water and sewer connection fees during their Nov. 10 meeting and will take appropriate action after discerning actual costs for providing the connections. In a report presented by City Recorder Shalmarie Morley, effective May 1, 1982, the council had set water connection fees for a h line at $900 and $800 for a line; sewer hookups were set at $750. The City currently charges $750 for water and sewer connections. Police Chief Emil Cluff informed the council that he had e taken a job for his days off. Casey Blackburn will be handling major occurrences while Cluff is on vacation. David Huffington proposed placement of a new bulletin board at the post office for his Eagle scout project at a cost of $40 to $50. The council approved paying 25 percent of the cost and there was an anonymous donation of $25. It was suggested that a plexiglass facing be put over the unit. The Utah League of Cities and Towns were to hold their annual municipal officers training workshops on Nov. 20 in Richfield and on Jan. 8 in Provo. The cost is $25 per person, which includes a handbook. Councilman Jacobsen reported that the City doesnt have a key to the dog pound. Les Haskins had a dog over the weekend and was unable to access the pound .because the gate was locked at the sewer plant. Moroni Processing Plant Manager David Bailey agreed to let the City have a key. Councilwoman Ramona Harris said everything is proceeding well after a small conflict with the credit union regarding moving the city Christmas tree. She said she was going to contact UP&L about the power hookup and was hoping that vandalism can be alleviated by placing the tree farther back on the property. The purchase of a computer desk from State surplus was one-inc- three-quarter-in- part-tim- approved so Deanna Ericksen can bring her computer to City Hall for processing cemetery records so the citys computer is less encumbered. Councilman Reed Christensen relayed that the Water Department is in the process of casing the No. 2 well and its problems should become apparent within the next few days. He said Glen Rasmussen was very upset with the citys use of his lane for well access, but the problem is being resolved. The irrigation ditch will be cleaned' one. more time, but Christensen felt its no longer the Citys responsibility. Other matters included approval of Diana Gibbons and Ranue .tart to chair this years Christmas committee; the apof Ken Chamberlain as point;!.' city attorney on an "as .needed" basis for legal matters other than court cases; and a $20 appropriation so Teri Anderson can participate in the National House, which is a crime prevention program. Mc-Gru- ff ' Through a class economics project conducted last spring, Mrs. Lynda Freemans fifth grade raised $100 that the students class of 1992-9- 3 wanted to donate to Moroni Elementary School. The mascot for the school is an eagle, so with those funds the students were able to obtain a Golden Eagle from the Division of Wildlife to give to the school. The Golden Eagle is displayed at the Moroni Activity Center currently and will find a permanent home in the fall in Moronis new facility. Mt. Pleasant Second graders made hundreds of decorations for First Security Banks Christmas Tree and put them up on Monday, Nov. 29 at the bank in Mt. Pleasant. The service project was under the direction of Mrs. Lorele Day, Mrs. Jane Anderson, Mr. Brent Barlow and Monte Christensen representing the bank.
