Halloween can be a fun day for the entire family. Consideration for security and safety has led neighborhoods to develop new ways to maintain traditions while making sure that everyone has a good and safe time. To make sure this Halloween is a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the Utah Safety Council offers these Halloween Safety but from falls, Tips: Make or buy costumes that are light and bright enough to be visible to motorists. Costumes and treat bags can be decorated or trimmed with retroreflective tape. Costumes should be made of material. They should be large enough so warm clothing can be worn underneath to protect the child from the cold, and short enough to prevent the child from tripping and falling. Mothers high heels and Dads size 12 shoes are not a good idea for safe walking. g Apply a natural mask of cosmetics rather than a mask, which might restrict breathing or obscure vision. Small children should always be accompanied by an older, responsible child or adult. Everyone should use the sidewalk rather than walk in the street when possible. Walk, dont run, from house to house. Do not dart out from between parked cars or across lawns and yards where ornaments or furniture present tripping hazards. If you are driving your child, please watch for costumed children who may not be watching for you. should go only to homes where residents have outside lights on as a welcome sign. It is always safer to go to homes of people you know rather than homes of strangers. Give youngsters a snack or meal before they go out. Tell them treats must not be eaten until they get home. Inspect all treats. If there is a loose wrapper or broken seal on any commercially produced candy, throw it away. Those receiving should remove any items that could be an obstacle from steps, lawns and porches. Keep household pets away from front doors. Keep lighted candles out of the reach of children or their costumes. Suggestions for those who do not wish to give candy or food as a treat include: baseball or other sport cards, crayons, pencils, pens, stickers, small toys, or coupons from local fast foods shops. clearly fire-resista- nt loose-fittin- Trick-or-treate- rs trick-or-treate- rs Spring City residents should beware of statute Dear Editor: As members of a concerned group of residents, we would like to know if you are aware of the new Building, Land Use and Zoning Ordinance that is ready for passage in Spring City. Most of the residents we have contacted are not even aware that these proceedings are underway; and, then, there are the ones who say, "We dont care because said that we have nothing to worry about. They will never bother us." so We would urge you to take the time to read for yourself the ordinance proposal because, if this goes into effect, what is stated in the ordinance will be enforced no matter what you have been told by anyone else. Copies are available to read at the Spring City Hall and the Post Office. A copy is also at Rafter, Check along with a sign-u- p sheet for those opposing these actions. This is not a petition! Because the contents of this memo and the results of the exposed agenda will have great impact on the West, Id like to share it. This memo was sent to Senator Craig of Idaho by someone in the Department of the Interior, and Craig sent it on to the Western States Legislators Coalition. Because it is five pages long, Ill make it as brief as possible. The memo defines the goals, tactics and conclusions of an agenda by Interior Department "insiders" that reflects deceit and manipulation of the American public, 'particularly citizens of the West. The six major points are as follows: 1. The Interior Department intends to use "straw men" for i.e., Endangered deception; Species Act, Clean Water Act, Riparian Zones v Wild and Scenic Rivers, etc., to cover' up their real agenda; 2. The Department will manipulate public comment to give a preconceived and predetermined MORONI Incumbent City Councilman Reed F. Christensen is seeking his second term. The ploy of encouraging advocacy groups, "our friends," to propose exaggerated demands in order to make the Interior Departments proposals appear reasonable is clearly evident in the "Sweeney Memo;" 4. The memo discusses the calculated manipulation of the media so the American public will side with the Secretary against the West; 5. The true hidden goal of confiscating water rights and property rights without compensation, to do away with the multiple-use concept through overregulation and falsely fabricating data and news clips to show how bad conditions are, are all maneuvers outlined in the memo; 6. The memo discusses the .need to cover up or keep from the populous the truth and the Departments own scientific data that does not support their takeover tactics, and that the comment periods and "town meetings" would be stacked and manipulated with the help of their friends.
