Show Page ' Four The Pyramid May 16, 1990 LDS Seminary graduation set May 17 MT. PLEASANT Mt. Pleasant LDS Seminary graduation will be held Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant LDS Stake Center. W. Kim Aagard, President of the Stake Board of Education, will preside, with seminary president, F. Taylor Johansen, conducting. The theme will be, "Where Would You Be...?" Speakers will include Barry Christensen, Cody Christensen, Rebecca Seely, Tom Bench, and Taylor Johansen. Eita Asama will sing, "When Someone Cares", and a vocal ensemble including Jennifer See- ly, Jennifer Prestwich, Julie Kendall, Andrea Jorgensen and Shana Russell will sing, "His Image in Your Countenance." Both musical numbers will be accompanied by Darcey Rawlings. Prayers will be offered by Jodi Ann Hansen and Brian Taylor, with music under the direction of Kristine Nielsen, Ann Jeanette Kellett and Tina Sorensen. Mt. Pleasant Main Teams received the most team and individual awards in the large school group at the annual SUSC Vocational Day Business Contests held April 17. Twenty-oneschoo- pated, 13 ls categorized particias large schools. The top three students and teams in each of categories were recognized. North Sanpete received 22 awards as well as 39 performance recognition awards. The next high school was Delta and Colorado City with 1 1 1 1 with 10. EconomicsFreeEnterprise, Utah Funeral Directors Association during its convention April 25 at the Salt Palace. She was presented a plaque and received an Honorary Lifetime Membership. Mrs. Ursenbach, who will be 89 years old in July, is believed to be the oldest funeral director Team A, Bradley Blackham, Cindy Sidwell, Greg Bailey and Greg Wright; Team B, Tony Blackham, Mindy Hamilton, Jeff Ericksen and Lynette Wilcox. Honorable mention awards went to Bradley Blackham, Greg Bailey, Tony Blackham and Greg Wright. The plaque honored her for "many years of dedicated service to the funeral service industry." Mrs. Ursenbach was born July 7, 1901, in Burrville. She and her husband moved to Mt. Pleasant, in 1930, working as funeral directors for the area. When he died in 1950, she carried on the business herself. "In those days," she said, "the coffins used to be delivered by truck and came in crates. I had to uncrate the coffins by myself. It was heavy, hard work and I cried many tears as I struggled to carry on the family business." Mrs. Ursenbachs Earl, ' wanted to take over son, the business when he got older. First, he served his country in the Korean War and went away for his education. Earl then took over the funeral home and does most of the work, but it is still a family business. Demos hold convention MANTI- - Two Democrat candidates for the county commission seat now held by Republican Keller Christenson of Gunnison will compete in the September 1 Primary election to see which of the two will be on the ballot against Christenson in the November General Election. Neither of the candidates was able to get 70 percent of the delegate vote at the Democratic Convention held in Manti Saturday. The two candidates will be the only two on the ballot as Christenson captured 70 percent in the Republican Convention held last week in Man- -. 1 ti.
