Show i ae ci. me ryramiu uuiy c, unu Singles group plans conference EPHRAIM The singles committee of the Manti Region would like to extend an invitation to all single adults in the state to attend the second annual singles conference to be held July 11 through 13, at Snow College in Ephraim. The conference will be held in connection with the Mormon Miracle Pageant. The schedule of activities at 5 p.m. with registration at the new institute building across the street from the Snow College Campus. A dinner will be held followed acby a dance and tivities. Saturays schedule begins with workshops and speaker, Ardeth G. Beck said he has always had an interest in aviation and wanted to build a helicopter, but because of the cost, decided on this model designed by Dean Wilson of Idaho. The craft can get airborne in 100 feet and can land on 200 feet. It will climb at a angle. Beck said he spent about 400 hours working on the craft and made several modifications including adding a 65 hp engine instead of the 43 hp for which the craft was designed. As a youngster growing A Pleasant up in Indianola, Beck made his first attempt at building a flying machine when he fixed a gasoline engine to a railroad tie and added a 4x4 propeller. The craft didnt fly, but it did move along the ground. Later he built a gyro plane which crashed in a heavy wind the first time out. Beck took flying lessons when he was 16. As mayor of Mt. He served an LDS Mission to Japan and taught in Samoa at the church college there. Cox is the brother of Mrs. Alan (Brenda) Bailey, of Fountain Green. MANTI- - Only one seat in the North Sanpete School Board race will be contended in the November election. No challenger filed against incumbent Allen P. Hall, Fairview, District 5 by the June 25 filing deadline. However, in District 4, Ronald L. Ivory is challenging incumbent Neils Hensen, both Fountain Green. Bill Warren is challenging incumbent Ted Dase, and in South Sanpete Precinct, Vaughn D. Mickelsen is seeking the seat now held by Boyd H. The Senior Citizens meeting will be held at 7 p.m. tonight, July 2, at the Senior Citizens Center. A pot luck dinner will be served, according to Lorn Jackson, director.
