Pleasant readies holiday season with parade, tree lighting MT. PLEASANT Its beginning look a lot like Christmas especially with snow up to six and eight inches deep in the north end of the Sanpete Valley and a few inches reported in other parts of the valley. But nothing signals the beginning of the holiday season more than a to beautifully lit Christmas tree, the stores decorated in their holiday attire, the singing of Christmas carols and the arrival of Santa Claus for his visit. Santa has scheduled his visit to Mt. Pleasant for Friday afternoon and will appear in the citys first Christmas parade. The parade which will also feature the North Sanpete High School marching band, the Fountain Green Cloggers, the Wasatch Bell Ringers along with city and chamber officials and other groups will begin on 300 West Main at 4 p m. The parade will end at the city's Christmas tree on Main and Center Streets and Santa will be in the old, but newly remodeled, armory to visit with the children. ianta will have a treat for each inild contributed by Mt. Pleasant City.' At 5 p m. the tree will be officially lighted and holiday carols will be will be the sung. Featured Falconettes a vocal group from the Middle School which is under the direction of Opal Miller. There will also be hot chocolate for all who come by. The Lions Club are assisting in this project. A couple of inches was reported in Fairview, but lighter amounts were reported on others areas of the county. Temperatures dipped to near zero reminding everyone that holiday shopping time is also near. Mt. Pleasant is gearing up for the season opener with a weekend special sales event and the arrival of Santa. Santa will appear in a parade at 4 p.m. and will greet the children a little later in the old armory on the corner of State and Main. That vehicle allegedly struck the drivers door of the parked car, belonging to Scott Jenkins, at the Triangle Apartments, causing the damage to the Jenkins vehicle. Jenkin's noticed the damage Saturday morning and called officials. The matter is still under investigation, Christensen said. News scene Teens arrested after Thanksgiving burglary Thursday in Moroni A second house burglary in as many weeks has resulted MORONI in a lost of between $1,000 and $1,500 in receipts, credit card slips, checks, and cash from the Keith Wilcox residence, 11 East 100 South, either Nov 22 or 23 while Wilcox was out of town for Thanksgiving. According to Marshal Kay Larsen, the burglar apparently entered the back door of the Wilcox home and took the receipts, belonging to Moroni Automotive, as well as 22 caliber rifle and shot gun ammunition. About two weeks ago, jewelry valued at $850, was taken from the Randy Johnson residence. Although Marshal Larsen doesnt feel at this time that the two burglaries are related, he did comment there were similarities in the two incidents. There were no fingerprints left at either residence, he observed. Marshal Larsen said he was investigating several leads in the burglaries. Sheriff makes plea for info on shooting Sanpete County Deputy Sheriff Curt Lund and the Sheriff's is making a plea to the public for information concerning the Department shooting of a cow near Wales Reservoir. Deputy Lund said a Hereford heifer weighing approximately 400 pounds and belonging to Lawrence Thomas was found Saturday, Nov. 24 still alive but with an arrow protruding from its side.
