Olsen 19, 1981 Social News survival instruction Family Living Anniversaries Foods, Weddings, FOUNTAIN GREE- N- Dexter Knight was the guest instructor at the Wednesday evening work meeting of the Fountain Green Second Ward Relief Society. He showed the film Survival which gave valuable information on how to survive and protect oneself and others in mountains and on desert, as well as winter hunting and fishing. Jp'-- SPRING CITY Dorothy Christensen is pleased to announce the marriage of her daughter, Brenda Jensen, to Allen Kent Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay L. Olsen, of Fountain Green on Sept. 29. "v reception will be held that evening from 7 until 9:30 p.m. at the Spring City LDS Ward Chapel. The bride is attending North Sanpete High School. She is the daughter of the late Verland Jensen. A The bridegroom is a 1984 graduate of North Sanpete High School and LDS Seminary. He is currently employed in Nephi. The couple plan to make their home in Fountain Green. Knight also had survival kits on display and explained the use of some of the items, a 9 by 12 foot plastic sheet, an aluminum sheet which serves as molding, wash basin, frying or cooking pan. He also explained the use of a compass, had a snake bite kit, and gave many other useful helps and information. Knight is a safety instructor for the Utah Wildlife Resources and teaches scouts hunters safety and survival programs. SPRING CIT- Y- Two North Sanpete High girls were among 15 from the United States who spent two months touring Denmark this summer. Cheri Crisp, daughter of Tom and Norma Crisp, and Jennifer Paulsen, daughter Mrs. Helena McKinnon of Moroni and daughters Jackyln Stephenson of Sandy and Christie Johansen of Mt. Pleasant recently returned from a tour of the Scandinavian countries including Norway, Sweden and Denmark. They also toured northern England, Germany, Holland, Scotland and Wales. They enjoyed the tour and saw many interesting places and things. Jennifer Paulsen share some momentoes of their summer trip to Denmark. Cheri is wearing clothing from Denmark, the Danish flag is displayed as well as a poster from their trip. The girls were among 15 representatives from the United States to spend two months visiting the country. Cheri Crisp ant! Brenda Jensen SPRING CIT- Y- Mr. and Mrs. Guy Stewart enjoyed having Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Arnold as guest during the past week. They also visited with Melba Averett and Olive Beck in Mt. Pleasant. WHERES THE PROTEIN? of Craig and MLisa both of Spring City left Paulsen, June 19 for Denmark. After spending three days in Washington, D.C. for orientation, they flew on to Denmark and arrived in grey misty Copenhagen, June 22. From Copenhagen, they traveled on the very modern Danish transit systems to Aalborg where they met their first host family. They both remarked that they were amazed with the beautiful country. Their host family lived on a farm and while with them they experienced typical Danish farm life. While the home was modern, the food was different. While staying with their first host family, they celebrated July 4. Danish people celebrate this totally American holiday as a Thank You to America. They were told that Danish people love the American people and their dream was to come to America. On July 8 they left their first host family and traveled by train to Copenhagen and met their second host family. They were surprised by the difference between the two areas of land and their lifestyles. On July 27, the group of 16 boarded the largest ship in Scandinavia and headed through the fjords to Nor Former Fairview couple to note golden wedding OREM Former Fairview residents, Mr. and Mrs. James A. (Maud) Bell, will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 29, at an open house in the Village Green Recreation Hall. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the affair which will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. They request no gifts. James Alexander Bell and Maud Clement were married on Oct. 1, 1934 in Manti. They lived in Fairview until 1953 when they moved to Pleasant Grove and then later moved to Orem where they now way. They spent two days in Oslo, Norway where they saw the Olympic ski jump and the world famous Kon Tiki, (which was a group of men that traveled on a raft across the Atlantic Ocean). From Norway, the group boarded a train to Stockholm Sweden, and then finally made the return trip to Cophnhagcfl. On Aug. 2, the group left to return to the United States. One of the highlights of the trip was sightseeing and the girls enjoyed seeing the beautiful castles of Denmark, the beautiful world famous Tivoli Gardens, Danish Parliament, and the statue of the Little Mermaid dedicated to Hans Christian Anderson in memory of his contributions to Denmark. They also enjoyed shopping and the fashions and music of the country. Both girls developed close ties to their host families and have future dreams of returning to seek more of their heritage. Horrah for concluded. Nielson reunion Janel Strode of EPHRAIM Barlet, Tenn. has been visiting with her parents, Sena and Bill Nielson and also with sisters, Sandra Johnson, Mt. Pleasant; Camille Oberhansley and Dana Hensler, both Sandy. She also visited with Pam Stewart and other former classmates. All attended a family reunion in Provo which was planned by Lucinda Brothers and Lori Nielson, granddaughters of Sena and Bill. 38 members enjoyed lunch, and visiting. On Sunday, Janel returned by plane to her home. Her husband, Master Chief Stephen J. Strode is on assignment with the Navy. He was a coal miner and farmer in Sanpete County until he began working for Geneva Steel where he retired in 1975 after 25 years. Mrs. Bell was born in Fairview on Nov. 21, 1916. Their children are: Mrs. Eldwin (Ann) Lane, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Bob (Yvonne) Graham of Buena Park, Calif.; Miss Jean Bell of Palo Alto, Calif.; Dewey Bell, Salt Lake Ctity and Diane Gay Bell, deceased.
