Hamilton Electric received the councils unanimous decision with a bid of $1,524,913, well within the engineers estimate of $1,550,000. Stan Postma, engineer for the project was also present to review the seven companies who submitted bids and approved of the councils decision. In other business, citizens in the north west end of Ephraim, severely bothered by flooding basements, attended the council meeting to request assistance or advice. Gail Larsen, Valley Engineering consulting engineer, has been commissioned by the city to conduct a feasibility study for draining water in the west side of town. ic Two residents, Elaine Anderson and Ruth Cook were badly shocked while telephoning (not to each other) in two separate instances. Both were knocked to the floor, frightened and numbed by the experience. Both victims recovered from their shocks, but the incidence gives warning of the danger in using the telephone during an electrical storm.
