Show LANDS gnos SOON to BE HE THROWN OPEN T SETT LEil during the grazing beason of 1909 the forest bervice aill ill again cooper co oper ate with the bureau of animal industry and the U utah tah state officials in efforts to stamp out the disease known as cab which exists exist among amon the sheep in a number of tha the W wd 4 tern states this work has been carried on by the bureau of animal industry for several years past the forest service has endeavored to assist the bureau as well as the state authorities in enforcing the law by refusing to admit any sheep on a national forest within the eo en states that wore not accompanied by a certificate of inspection signed by an inspector of tile bureau of animal industry to the effect that they were ere free from the disease or had been dipped in accordance w with th the regulations r of the bureau in nearly all till the western sheep raising states the bbate boards charged with ith protecting the health of live lie stock have been very active in suppressing this disease and between the tho bureau of animal industry the state authorities and the forest service it has practically been wiped out of man of the states and greatly reduced in the others during the season of 1909 the work ork will be continued in the states of colorado utah nevada california and the territories of new mexico and arizona and it is hoped that at the close of this present year the results will 01 be so satisfactory that considerable parts of this area may also be pronounced free from tile disease and relieved from quarantine restrictions wherever it has been found naceb sary to burn the corrals counting chute s and other improvements on a range which were possibly infested with this disease the material for new ones has been furnished to the stockmen free of charge by the tile forest service |
