PLEASAN- T- Alten and Lois Brothersen will be honored on their Golden Wedding Anniversary at an open house at the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens Center from p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. There will be a family program at 4:30 p.m. They were married Jan. 11, 1933, in Nephi. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Their children are Shirlene Jensen, Orem; Maxine Harward, Sandy; Boyd Brothersen, Mt. Pleasant, and MorRae Brothersen, Murray. They have 11 grandchildren and 1 Alt has worked as a barber in Mt. Pleasant for 53 years, along with being a farmer and sheep rancher. He has been active in the LDS Church as a member of the bishopric as a ward clerk and financial officer under 5 bishops. He has also served as a Scout leader, 1st counselor of the Elders Quorum, Ward Teacher and is presently a High Priest. He served two years in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific and is an active member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. . Lois has worked as a seamstress in Manti, Ephraim, and Mt. Pleasant for 25 years. She has also held positions in the Primary and Sunday School, and has been a Relief Society teacher for many years. The family requests no gifts, please. Quick and easy dishes listed By Nor it a Lancaster 3 Do you ever feel like you have been riding a roller coaster all day, and you cant find the switch to stop it so you can get off and relax? Some days are so full of activities and commitments one cannot help but feel a little dizzy and by dinnertime, a little frantic. Its days like this that cause homemakers to wish for a magic spell, a magic wand, or at least their own private chef to have food prepared and on the table in time for dinner. Not having these items, one must rely on ones cooking expertise, whats in the cupboard and some good, easy, quick recipes. Today, we are offering some very tasty and easy recipes from some very special cooks....and one of my easy, quick recipes, too. Hopefully these will help you cope with those busy days when time is a problem, or you're too weary to spend a great deal of time in the kitchen. These recipes are also great throw when unexpected togethers company drops in. The first recipe is from Nanette Watson ( Mrs. Don Watson) of Spring City. You have enjoyed some of Nanettes and the other ladies recipes previously, so you know these recipes are good, too. Pretend Swiss Steak Press hamburger patties between two sheets of waxed paper. Salt and pepper. Bread patties, just flour is fine. Brown patties on both sides and simmer in a mixture of one of two cups of water and one of two bouillon cubes for about 35 minutes. Use leftover sauce for gravy. This recipe is a favorite and very tasty vegetable side dish from Joy Jensen (Mrs. Steve Jensen), of Moroni. blend. Gradually add milk. Gently in remaining ingredients. Heat until sauce is bubbly and flavors are blended. Serve in patty shells, on toast, rice, Chinese noodles or biscuits. Makes 8 servings. This fruit salad recipe is also from Karen Russell. Fruit Salad 1 pkg. instant lemon pudding, 1 pkg. prepared Dream Whip. Mix together 1 can drained pineapple stir and 1 can drained Mandarin oranges, 1 sliced, pared apple, 1 sliced banana and some grapes. Fold prepared pudding and Dream Whip into fruit and serve. This next recipe is one my daughter Michelle and I whip up often on those busy hurry out the door days. It is practically a complete meal in one pan, and you can easily add leftover vegetables and other chunks of leftover meat, too. Meal Pan (curried is best, in a Rice-a-Ro- pkg. but any flavor will do. ) 1 lb. ground beef 1 can drained sliced carrots 1 can drained green beans Brown ground beef in large skillet, drain off excess fat. In same skillet, i, with beef, prepare according to package directions. Stir in carrots and beans, heat thoroughly and serve. Add leftover vegetables or meats, if desired. Top off your meal with a quick and easy dessert made from prepared brownies or leftover cake (chocolate is best) and ice cream, any flavor. Put a slice of ice cream between 2 layers of cake or brownies. Pour your favorite hot chocolate sauce or melted chocolate chips over the top. GREEN Mrs. Roma Ivory announces the marriage of her grandson, Alan Mikkelson, son of Glen and Leola Mikkelson of Woods Cross, to Miss Jackie Viteri, daughter of Mrs. Graciela Grijalva, South Ecuador, Guayaquil, America. They were married Dec. 14, 1982, in Quillen, Texas. Mr. Mikkelson is stationed with the U.S. Army in Fort Hood Texas, and expects to be sent to Germany in a short time. The new bride has been attending Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, Texas. She spent Christmas with her mother, sister and brother in Ecuador. Roll biscuits until very thin and place on buttered cookie sheets. Put 1 or 2 tablespoons bean and ground beef mixture in center of each biscuit. Sprinkle each biscuit with grated cheese. Bake in 350 deg. oven until biscuits are baked. Serve immediately. This next quick recipe is from Karen Russell (Mrs. Bruce Russell) of Mt. Pleasant. Quick Chicken Ala King cup diced green peppers Tblsp. butter or margarine 1 ( 101 oz. ) can Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Chicken soup soup l1 4. cups milk 3 cups cooked and cubed chicken or tuna 1 Tblsp. pimentos Dash of pepper Cook green peppers in margarine until tender. Add soup and stir to FTN.
