Show Page Six The Pyramid MHS pays tribute to December 11, 1980 Sanpete County homes on Historic Register SALT LAKE CITY- - Ten Sanpete County homes have recently been listed on the National Register of Historic places according to the Utah State Historical Society. Three homes in Mt. Pleasant, three in Ephraim, and four in Manti are on the list, the Society said. They include the Cyrus Wheelock home, in a picture of which appeared in last weeks Pyramid, the James B. Staker House and the Ole Arilsen house Pleasant. The Staker Brick home was built in Mt. about 1880 and is typical of the home of (he more affluent members of the Community in the later pioneer period according to Tom Carter, Utah Historical Historian. Society Architectural Staker organized the Planning Mill Company of Hansen, Staker and Johnson in 1892. - Arilsen came to Utah from Denmark in 1862 and built his brick home between (877 and 1880. He was a farmer and carpenter who ran on the Socialist Party ticket for Sanpete offices several years. In 1907 he ran for Mt. Pleasant mayor. ! In Ephraim the homes of Hans A. Hansen, Fredrick Christian Sorenson And the Greaves-Deaki- n House were listed. The Hansen House is one of the large homes first built outside the old Ephraim fort and was constructed in )862 of adobe, Hansen was a farmer who came to Ephraim from Denmark. ; The Sorenson House is an American Variation of a Scandanavian Carter said, and belonged to one of the first converts to the LDS Church from Denmark.
