Show CATTLE C A E PROMISE PR 0 MISE MUCH BETTER FROM F K olaff NOW ON the advocate KANSAS CITY mo april 24 the cattle market this week was lower monday and tuesday but lung have been small since tuesday and a small show of strength has developed promising well for next week provided the supply is moderate conditions are critical in the meat trade as the high price of beef has greatly reduced consumption particularly ticul arly of choice cuts so that buyers seek every opportunity tp reduce prices for the last two weeks the best demand has been for the lower grades of steers and for butcher stuff anything that would enable packers to fill till orders for medium priced beef the result has been a narrowing of the range between m medium class steers which sell at s to 5 90 and choice fed steers which have sold up to 6 65 on different daya this week fed colorado colorados reached monday and liay hay fed steers sold at to including a string of 1000 pound hay bay fed steers from utah the first of the week at cows from the west and southwest sold at 3 25 to stoc kira rs to 5 35 feeders H 4 75 to four cars of 10 1070 60 pound feeders saguache colo at the latter price the first of the week cattle receipts so far in april show an increase of twenty thousand thu usand head or nearly 30 per cent over the same period last april sheep and lambs are holding up strong though the advance th this is week does not amount to more than ten to fifteen cents the supply is fairly good but blit the demand is also good and predictions are freely made that prices will advance in the next few weeks especially on fed stuff numerous lots of lambs have sold at this week and the bulk of fed lambs sell at to best yearlings weathers 6 60 50 e eves ves texas muttons are coming pretty freely but quality haa not been as good this week as formerly and prices do not look as high fair to good ethers and ewes at to medium stuff abou arou around n d 4 50 fat goats 4 brushes to 3 50 with a demand for the latter ahead of the supply |
