Show political forum Wise to5 Utah plates Election recount costs tax dollars LAYTON - At the request of Ruby J. Price, an official recount of the Octo. 8 primary election results was held Oct. 22, in the Layton City Hall conference room. -- By ELECTION judges counting ballots were Lanore Harris, Delpha Reese, Ruth Lavton. Donna Hill, Mildred Heaps and Ben Horejsi. City Recorder Ken Ellgen presided over the recount. Candidates in attendance were Wynn L. Hansen and Theresa Hood, representing Ruby J. Price. Sam Trujillo was contacted and elected not to be present. SOME STATES do not charge a property tax on vehicles and are reporting that many out of state vehicle owners are applying for license plates in their states. In Utah 22 percent of the vehicle property tax is returned to the county coffers with 15 percent going to the city of residence. The school district is allocated 54 percent and the remainder is lumped into a miscellaneous fund for paramedics and mosquito abatement. Johnson said that many Utahns fall into resithe category of dents and he encouraged all public safety departments to cooperate in this effort. Wynn Hansen stated he feels that the primary election gave the citizens of Layton some good choices to vote for, encouraging all to find out about those candidates on the November ballot. Hansen, 566; Dean K. Johnson, 484; Gerald (Jerry) Nebeker, 1074; Ruby J. Price, 559; Patricia J. Simons, 308; Jerry Stevenson 1205 and R. Sam Trujillo, 581.
