His homecoming was held Sunday, June 30. Arthur and Alice Gerber are his parents. Allen and Lucille Strong went on a cruise to Athens this past month. Carl Buys is home recuperating from an illness in which he spent some time in the hospital. Alice and Jack Rampton spent two weeks in Washington, DC. and New York visiting Alice's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Burton. The Rampton's Mr. and daughter and Mrs. Hal Anderson, accompanied them on the trip, which also included a drive to Nashville. Mrs. Leola Kirby has returned home after suffering a minor stroke and spending a week in Davis North Humana Hospital. Funeral services were held in the Myers Mortuary Chapel in Layton. Interment in the Kaysville City Cemetery where military honors were accorded. Thursday George Q. Bennett George Q. Bennett. 85, 3982 W. N.. West Point, died Tuesday, June 18 at the Humana Hospital Davis North of causes incident to age. 3(H) HE WAS born Sept. 26, 1899 in South Hooper, a son of George Riley and Mary Ann King Bennett. He was educated in Davis County Schools and married Elva Eroline Arave Aug. 29. 1918 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He had been a farm operator in West Point where he had resided the greater part of his life. He had driven a school bus for the Davis County School District for a lengthy time, operated the West Point mercantile store and served as a member of the Davis School Board. MR. BENNETT had been active in civic and church affairs in the West Point and North Davis LDS Stake, served as bishop of the West Point Ward, a high councilman and in the stake presidency of the North Davis Stake. He had been a teacher in the various auxiliaries of the Church. As a young man he filled an LDS mission to the Southern States. During 1947-4- 9 he and his wife filled a mission to England and served a second mission to Hawaii. AT THE time of his death he was serving as a patriarch in the West Point Slake. Surviving are his widow of West Point; one son and three daughters. Mrs. Don (Melba) Middleton. Phoenix. Ariz.: Mrs. Dell (Zelnta) Singleton and George Junior Bennett. both of West Point and Mrs. Don (Donna) Arave, Hooper; 14 grandchildren and 58 greatgrandchildren. ALSO surviving is a brother and one sister. Melvin J. Bennett of Clearfield and Mrs. Raymond (Florence) Iaice. West Point.
