These guys are unemployed and angry at life to start with. They take out their frustrations at the soccer games. Kickoff time is 3 p.m. in England and by that time the majority of fans have been at the local pub all day filling up with ale. Supposedly its illegal to take booe into the games but that's like trying to keep booe and drugs out of a rock concert, its next to impossible to do. They live and die with their local side. They are mad because of the economic situation and the fact they can't find a job. Soccer gives them an outlet and it doesn't take much to light their fuse at a game and the alcohol SOCCER Emglish simply adds to the fire. Violence at soccer games is getting out of hand and not just in England and it has to be stopped. But the American journalists can't make an honest assessment of the problems when they simply don't know what's going on. Braves May Get Another Title - In 1981 the BOUNTIFUL Bountiful baseball team came up with their one and only state championship team. In 1982 the Braves placed second to a strong Hillcrest club and then last year a bunch of juniors took the tournament by surprise and came away with a third place showing. .WELL THE year is now 1985 and those Braves are back in the state tournament and they are looking for nothing short of the title. Right now we have the best attitude weve had all year. We had some ups and downs this season with all the pressure on us but these kids have come together stronger than ever said veteran coach Phil Olsen. We know what it's going to take for us to win this title and thats aggressive attitude. The year we took state we weren't sure going in but with each victory our kids began to believe in themselves. These kids already believe in themselves." ANYONE CAN tell you that in order to win a state title a team better have some strong arms to pitch. Almost every team that makes the tourney has one strong pitcher who got them to the event but in this week long double elimination event it takes more than one pitcher. I believe we have the pitching to win what we need to do is score some more runs for them than we have in the past. We have three good starting pitchers and some excellent relief pitchers" Olsen said. THE THREE main arms the Braves will rely on at state are seniors Bubba Thompson, Mike Neuteboom and Chris Jacobs with Pat Baker, Gary Bowman and Chad Rigby ready in the bullpen. There was concern over Thompson a w eek ago but a sore throwing arm was diagnosed as an inflamed tendon and with treatment he'll be fine at state. Bubba finished the year with a 1 record and a 1.67 ERA. 4-- NEUTEBOOM was the big winner with a 1 mark and a .77 ERA he was with Jacobs finishing at slowed up by a badly sprained ankle. In the bullpen Baker was 0 with four saves and a 1.33 ERA with two while Bowman was saves. Rigby is a hard throwing sophomore who could see action at 6-- 3-- state. Offensively the Braves were led by senior Pat Baker who was recently voted the MVP in the state by the 4A coaches. A transfer from Judge Pat hit for a .487 average over the year to go along with some flawless play at third. Shortstop Tim Smith is the only other regular hitting over 400 with a .408 av- erage. FOUR OTHER regulars are over the 300 mark with Bubba Thompson at .392, Tony Butler at .341. Mike Larrabee .326 and Dusty Jacobs at .305. Thompson is the power hitter with two homers and three triples to lead in both Clearfields Todd Davis will run both middle and long distance races for the Wildcats. Terry Kealamakia will jump the hurdles as a Weber State W'ildcat next season. The untapped talent he has could lead to unbelievable future results.
