Show DAVIS REFLEX JOURNAL, JANUARY 9, 1985 OPJTUgPW Elmer C. Nielson Elmer C. Nielson, 82, of 340 S. 750 E., Clearfield, died Friday, Dec. 28, 1984 at McKay-De- e Hospital in Ogden. HE WAS born May 1, 1902 in Morgan County, a son of Niels and Jamima Gibby Nielson. He married Gladys Francom on Aug. 9, 1924, in Ogden. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. HE WAS reared and educated in Round Valley and Roy. He farmed in El wood and Utah. He later worked for Hunsaker Gravel Trucking Co. in Ogden and at Hill Air Force Base as a welder, retiring after 23 years of serve. HE WAS active in scouting. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Senior Citizens. HE WAS president of the Clear-Hel- d Senior Citizens Club for two years. Surviving are his widow of Clearfield; three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Everette (Gene) Wells, Plymouth; Reed E. Nielson. Syracuse; Lyle F. Nielson. Clinton; Mrs. Jay (Peggy) Barker, South Ogden; Karl J. Nielson and Mrs. Charley A. (Jolene) Jones, both of Roy; 28 grandchildren, 38 two n, ALSO surviving is a sister, Leone N. Jensen. He was preceded in death by one daughter. FUNERAL services were held Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Lindquists Clearfield Mortuary with Bishop Tom Wagoner officiating. Family prayer was by Kurt Niel- - Joseph Vearl Garlick, 81, of 155 E., Kaysville, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 1984 in the Lakeview Hospital of causes incident to age. MR. GARLICK was born July 23, 1903 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Tom Waggoner; eulogy. Jay Barker; speakers. Virgil Francom and Jay Barker; O My Father by Janet Ostlerand Nancy Lundquist; benediction, Kurt Nielson. DEDICATION of the grave was by Bishop Tom Waggoner with interment in the Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch. Pallbearers were Bruce Wells, Craig Burr, Steve Nielson, Jeff Barker, Scott Roundy and Brad Nielson. Honorary pallbearers were Gary, Brian and Brent Burr. FLOWERS w ere cared for by the Clearfield 9th Ward Relief Society. Malinda Larsen Garlick. He married Alta Stewart on Sept. 15, 1932 in Altonah, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She died Oct. 9, 1979. HE HAD been a coal miner in Carbon County for 48 years and retired as a miner in the Horse Canyon Mine. He was reared in Fairview, Utah. He lived for 40 years in Wellington, Utah and had lived the last six years in Kaysville. HE WAS a member of the Kaysville 2nd LDS Ward. He was a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Manti LDS Temple from 1975 to Keith Garlick, Bountiful; Gary Garlick, Wellington, Utah; Mrs. Lyman (Phyllis) Nicoll, Layton, 22 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters, Aure Garlick, Salt Lake City; Ray Garlick, Nephi and Ward Garlick of Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Leon (Crystal) Welsh, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Eli (Velma) Sykes of Murray. FUNERAL services were held a.m. in the Kays-vill- e Wednesday at 1 1 LDS Rock Chapel with Bishop L. D. Covington offi- ciating. Graveside services were held in the Price City Cemetery. Lorin Richards, Jr. np Frank Martinez Frank Martinez, 64, of 746 E. S., Clearfield, died Monday. Dec. 3 , 1984 at the Humana Hospital Davis North in Layton of a heart attack. HE WAS born Dec. 18. 1920, in Medicine Lodge, Kan., a son of Francisco and Juanita Martinez. He married Vickie Perchez on Oct. 28, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nev. They were married in the Catholic Church in April of 1947. IN 1946 he moved from California to Wendover, Nev., where he lived until 1957 when he moved to Clearfield. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton and also a member of SOCIO. HE HAD worked in Civil Service for 24 years and had worked at Hill Air Force Base. 4(H) Surviving are his widow of Clearfield; three sons and four daughters, Rick Martinez, Clinton; Carlos Martinez, Clearfield; Andy Martinez, Clinton; Gloria F. Fort Lane, Layton, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 1984 at Humana Hospital Davis North of cancer. HE WAS born Nov. 24. 1920, in Twin Falls, Ida., the son of Guy Nelson and Pearl Strode Metcalf. He married Lola Mae Morehead on July 5, 1946 in Elko, Nev. at the Thursday Chapel with Bishop Norman O. Wahlstrom officiating. Family prayer was by Arthur L. SHE WAS a cosmetics consultant with Jafra Cosmetics for the past 12 years. She attended Utah State University in Logan. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints in Westhaven, where she was former presi dent of the Relief Society and former officer of the Young Womens organization.
