Show WEEKLY REFLEX, DAVIS NEWS JOURNAL, MAY 9, 1984 Kaysville Chamber Adds A Word To Official Name By NORMA PREECE The Kaysville Chamber of Commerce officers and members met Wednesday, May 2 at The Pizza Company Restaurant in Kaysville for their regular dinner meeting with Pres. LaVon Arkoudas in charge. PRES. ARKOUDAS announced it had been suggested to change the name from Kaysville Chamber of Commerce to Kaysville Area Chamber of Commerce. Members voted to make the change. There are currently 60 members and other business persons wishing to join should contact Pres. Arkoudas or one of the board members. KAYSVILLE City and the Chamber will be sponsoring some new signs for the entrances into Kaysville. Grant Murray a Boy Scout working on the project as his Eagle Scout project along with scout leaders and fellow scouters will be making the signs and have obtained approval from the Kaysville City Council and will build them in accordance to city requirements and ordinances. Two members of the Kaysville Chamber have resigned, Sandy Butterfield and Doug Beatty, however Doug will stay on the Retail Promotion Committee. Doug has been a member of the Chamber the past four years after moving to Kaysville and has served as president during the 1983-8- 4 year. He is presently manager of the Kaysville Drug, a position he has held since 1979. THE CHAMBER of Commerce was pleased to learn that Alan B. Blood, president and chief executive officer at Barnes Bank recently received a national High Performance Institution Award from the Bank Administration Institute for their consistence of high performance over a five year period. A new mortgage company opened its doors in Kaysville at 348 N. Main Street to be known as Newtrend Mortgage Inc. with Gayland and Vickie Jessen as mana Students who excelled in this special Field of Study contest held recently at Kaysville Elementary School in four categories were: A RIBBON cutting ceremony was held Friday, April 27. Chamber board officers and members were on hand for the special event. Mitchells Nursery has opened a new store in West Valley City. Troy Mitchell, son of Mr. Mitchell will be managing the new business. THE OWNERS of Layton Apartments, Jean and Roy Layton of Kaysville are preparing to remodel the apartments in the near future. The Shopping Center Site, next to Village Square, has been assembled. Dick Yardley has submitted plans to the Agency and city to remodel and expand his business Dicks Tire and Auto Store on North Main. He will be getting bids on the plans as soon as the RDA approves them.
