State, A dying man’s last words were the focus of a murder trial that began last week in 3rd District Court But witnesses who heard Michael B. Anderson's dying utter- ance on Nov. 7, 1992, do not agree on what he said Marcie Nish testified she heard Anderson repeat, “Charlie did it,” as the man lay bleeding froma gunshot woundin theparking lot of Little Christi’s Private Club. Salt Lake County Defense attorney Ronald Yengich claims those words exonerate the defendant — Jackie Lee Byrd — and namethe real killer: Anderson's friend, Weston Charles Hansen But witness Richard Conder testified Anderson actually said ‘Charlie, help, help me.
