The account of some real happy event which will fill our hearts with happiness? If so we seldom get what we expect, as the headlines generally tell of some terrible calamity which happened to some important person, or to some prominent leaders of the different countries. Seldom, do we find any news which makes us happy. Nearly always the headlines make us shiver as we read of the horrible crimes which are committed by people who are supposed to be our fellow citizens. The honest, trustworthy citizens who patiently go about their business, keeping us on the narrow way seldom get even a pleasant smile for their efforts. Few people ever take the opportunity to stop and compliment him for his efforts to make life worthwhile. Dutson NATIONAL NEWSPAPER ASSOCIATION In my capacity as chairman ol Civic Improvement tor illmore, as well as several diltcrcnt civic clubs, I have learned to greatly appreciate the excellent qualities ol our many talented, considerate citizens who generouslv give ol their time to help keep OUR TOWN among the towns who win theawards for the kind ol town in which they spend heir lives and shape the fulureof their children Many unsung heroes spend hours ol their tune training Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4 H boys and girls, C liurch groups of young people, but they are not the ones who get their names in the headlines. Whenever we have Ward Dinners, Fashion Shows, Gold and Green Balls, dramas, lectures, work meeting's wheie we learn new skills, many people have given hours ol their time in preparation for these events. W'e should all remember to thank these people who are so thoughtful and considerate ol their fellow townspeople. Unless we become involved in some way. we never receive any benclit Irom these opportunities to become more efficient or better prepared to raise our families. I I It really doesn't matter whether our names get in the paper for everything we do to help make others happy or better satisfied with their iives, what really matters is what we have done with talents w nh w hich our Maker endowed us. Some people have the opportunity to go to college until they graduate. That does not mean that they arc better educated than some other people who have studied at home, and really spent hours in getting certain information. School is just a systematic method of getting an education. Abraham Lincoln, one of our most outstanding Presidents of the United States, got most of his education through sell study, but he was systematic in his studies and very determined to get an education. He really cared about helping his lellow man, whether he be black or white skinned. He cared little about publicity, but he did love his fellow man. Each of us has some particular talent, some are much more talented than others, but the more we give of that talent talented we become, therefore we should not miss any opportunity to develop our talent or talents, whether we seem to get our names in the paper, or are even thanked lor our efforts. I have found so many talents in the people with whom I have worked, that I really think we have some of the most worthwhile people living in our part of the universe, and I, lor one, love and appreciate the many talents you have shared with me, in making this part of the world such a delightful place in which lo raise our families. e of colony of hone y bees may be composed ai many as 90,000 individual bees.
