Faced with the enormous cost of reshingling the roof, Museum Director Golden Sanderson and the Board of Directors, decided to hold a yard sale and at the same time canvass the town for contributions to purchase the materials and have the work done before the winter weather arrived Cheney and Sanderson Harris gathered, sorted and prepared the collected salable items and the sale brought in, along with the cash donations, enough to complete the job it it could be done as inexpensively as possible. Doug McNeil, a board member and professional roofer when he lied in California, combed the Salt Lake City market and was able to purchase the shingles at below the market cost He then shingled the roof and was able to Doug McNeil of Fairview shingles the bell tower of the Fairv iew Museum following completion of the shingling of the roof of the building.
