Hypertension Although the causes of hyor persistent high pertension blood pressure are far from fully known, it appears that there is a psychogenic relationship and that mental and emotional factors are involved in the disease. This can he shown by the fact that a persons blood pressure, taken when he is nervous or excited, will almost surely be higher than when he is calm. Hypertension, then, may be considered in a sense as a psychosomatic disease. These are ailments in which the symptoms are primarily physical although there may be a large emotional component. A person suffering from a psychomatic disorder may need psychological treatment, but he is also in need of medical treatment. He is very different from the hypochondriac who, despite being himself convinced that he is ill, actually has nothing organically wrong. Recent attention has been called to the gravity of the national problem of hypertension by Secretary Elliot L. Richardson of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. Brown, M.D. He pointed out that million Americans have hypertension, that it kills 60,000 each year, and is the cause of disablement and eventual death of many more through sequalae j Mixed Nuts lb. 49c . r Skyland Western Family I HONEY I Western Shores 5 cans . j Applesauce 8 oz. . 37c . 4 rolls 39c Toilet Tissue I Seethalers Sliced Bacon . 69c .
