Die new Princess will be crowned at a banquet and pageant which will be held in the Manti Center Ward at 8:30 p.m. June 24. The event is being sponsored by the Sanpete County members of the American Dairy Association. The public is invited to attend the banquet and pageant which will also feature Kent K. Hendrickson, manager of the American Dairy Association of Utah who will speak on the roll the ADA plays in promoting and selling dairy products. The new 1970 Princess will be crowned by Dixie Gordon Cook who has reigned during the past vear as Dairy Princess. Former resident counselor in mission office Announcement has been made the appointment of Morley D. Petersen, former Mt. Pleasant resident, as a counselor in the South Mission California Presidency. President Petersen was set apart as first counselor to President Marion L. Coleman in April by Elder Loren C. Dunn of the First Council of Seventy. Pleasant (a farm three miles north of the city) where he grew up and was educated. In 1946 he moved with his father to California and served in the Navy for one year. He married Marybelle M. Foster and they reside in San Diego with their five children, Susan, Keith, Gregory, Bryan and Kent. He is employed by the California Markets, Inc., serving as manager and buyer for one of the oldest markets in the city of San Diego.
